Seeking a candidate with the following qualities:
Caring, motivated, knowledgeable, proficient communicator, emphasis on collaboration and consultation, desire to provide direct group and individual counseling services, ability to hand crisis situations calmly and effectively
Job Activities Include:
- Leading Special Education team to conduct meaningful evaluations to inform IEP goals and services
- Providing direct counseling services on an IEP or intervention plan (approximately 5-10 hours per week)
- Collaborating with teachers and support staff through the problem solving process
- Collaborating with district psychologists
- Coordinate school-wide general screening, making recommendations for reading, math, and writing interventions
- Help select research-based interventions, train staff on implementation, assist with progress monitoring, and lead teams in data-based decision making for students in Tier 3 programming
- Participate and/or co-lead district level Problem Solving team
- Provide crisis response at the school and district levels
- Use behavioral knowledge to consult with staff on positive behavior supports for students in general education and special education
- Support school-wide Second Step social emotional curriculum and implementation
- Provide appropriate staff trainings on variety of academic, SEL, and behavioral topics
