Job Description               
 
TITLE: Elementary Math Support Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Professional Educator License 
2. Deep and broad understanding of mathematical content and instructional best practices at the elementary level 
3. Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience 
4. EL Certification preferred 
5. Ability and availability to maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate after school support 
JOB GOAL: The primary purpose of this position is to directly support student learning in math. To provide math interventions and supports in small group settings, individualized student instruction, organizing and assisting in screening and benchmark testing, progress monitoring of students, evaluating the effectiveness of student interventions, and adjusting teaching strategies according to student needs. 

REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support effective pre-K–5 mathematics instruction and student learning. 
2. Apply a deep understanding of math instructional practices to support students in classroom and small group settings. 
3. Implement the district’s current math instructional framework; work collaboratively with the math department, including math coordinator and coaches. 
4. Implement the MTSS process with fidelity and demonstrate a full understanding of the expectations at the Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels. 
5. Assist with screening and benchmark assessments; interpret pertinent student data to explain findings to a variety of audiences, including at student data and parent meetings. 
6. Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents to strengthen all aspects of the instructional program. 
7. Demonstrate practices of growth mindset to support a positive culture and climate in the building. 
8. Support school and district improvement efforts.
9. Attend math collaboration meetings to increase curriculum knowledge and instructional capacity. 
10. Participate in professional development, research, reading and inquiry sessions to stay informed of developments in instructional best practices, technology integration, and assessment. 
11. Perform other duties and assume responsibilities as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning or designee and in accordance with terms stipulated in the current contract. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month year 

SALARY: In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the South Berwyn Education Association:

4. Develops and implements lesson plans, utilizing instructional materials including the integration of technology, to provide differentiated learning experiences to meet the needs of each student.
5. Collaborates and co-teaches with team members to develop and implement differentiated lessons plans for all students’ success.
6. Establishes and maintains positive student behavior within the classroom and school Environment.
7. Evaluates and monitors student academic and social growth, and keeps appropriate records using formal and informal data collection, methods, or tools. 
8. Identifies student needs and collaborate with team members to assess and remediate student learning and establish or implement behavior plans.
9. Creates an engaging classroom environment for learning.
10. Communicates classroom information and student progress with guardians through web pages, conferences and digital resources.
11. Commit to personal professional growth through activities provided by the district, self selected activities and those recommended by the supervising principal for competency advancement.
12. Maintains required inventory records for all classroom materials.
13. Supervises students during non academic activities within the school day.
14. Administers individual and group assessments in accordance with the district and State Testing Program.
15. Participates in school programs, faculty committees and student activities in accordance with terms of the current contract.
16. Perform other duties and assume responsibilities as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee and in accordance with terms stipulated in the current contract.

JOB DESCRIPTION
 
Title – Reading Specialist 
 
JOB GOAL: To provide reading interventions in small group settings, individualized student instruction, organize and assist in diagnostic testing, progress monitoring of students, evaluate the effectiveness of student interventions, adjust teaching strategies according to student needs
 
QUALIFICATIONS:     
 
1. Hold an Illinois Professional Educator License 
2. Minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience 
3. Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
4. Completed K-12 Reading Specialist Preparation Program (Reading Specialist K-12 Endorsement)
5. Evidence of passing the Reading Specialist (221) test 
6. Must have a strong knowledge base on literacy topics, but also have the skills needed to present and transfer knowledge to the staff

1. Support teachers in the instruction of students with varied abilities to facilitate transfer between classroom and small group instruction.

3. Implement the MTSS process with fidelity including full understanding of the expectations at the Universal/Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 levels and provide support to staff, and proficiency with all types of literacy assessments.
 
4. Assist with diagnostic assessments; interpret reading research and pertinent student data to explain findings to a variety of audiences, including student data meetings.
 
5. Provide professional development and support to building or district staff in areas of literacy and / or MTSS.
 
6. Manage building instructional resources and provide appropriate materials to support differentiation and varying student needs.
 
7. Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, other school staff and parents to strengthen all aspects of the instructional program.
 
8. Support practices of growth mindset to support a positive culture and climate in the building.
 
9. Attend literacy collaboration meetings to increase instructional capacity.
 
10. Participate in professional development, research, reading and inquiry sessions to stay abreast of developments in best classroom practices, technology and assessment.
