Salary Range: Range 28A, Classified Management Salary Schedule, $196,408 - $255,376 depending on experience. Annual stipends for a Master’s and Doctorate degrees.
Employment Status: Full-time (FLSA Exempt) - Senior Classified Management Position

Overview:
The Assistant Superintendent, Business Services is a member of the executive cabinet who is responsible for keeping the District financially solvent and for serving as the administrative head for Fiscal Services, Food Services, and Facilities. The Assistant Superintendent provides expertise on a wide variety of school business matters, including budget management, financial forecasting and analysis, real property acquisition and construction, cost containment, risk management, and contracts management.
Essential Functions:
Equity
Develop long and short-range financial plans and budgets that support the equity work of the District
Ensure leaders across the system plan and deliver services using an equity lens.
Provide leadership that delivers on the unique needs of a socio-economically, culturally, ethnically, racially and linguistically diverse student population.
Lead and develop staff in the areas of public finance, food services, property acquisition, and school construction
Make informed decisions and recommendations on a wide variety of business matters that ensure the budget represents the needs of all students, in particular underrepresented youth.
Accountability
Coordinate the business services work and activities of staff, and evaluate performance of staff.
Follow the laws, ordinances, rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to divisional activities
Implement principles and practices of modern public sector/school business management and administration
Develop standards of job performance and hire, train, coordinate, direct and evaluate personnel within Business Services.
Implement principles and practices of personnel management, including, but not limited to, evaluation of staff
Arrange for the annual external audit and assure that audit findings are addressed; conduct internal audits as required.
Manage all risk management programs for the Districts, including property/liability, medical and health benefits, and workers compensation
Student-Centered Lens
Collaborate with project teams or administrators to provide support for budget information needed to raise student achievement levels, particularly socio-economically, culturally, ethnically, racially and linguistically diverse student population.
Oversee the District’s budgets and ensure that monies are used to represent underrepresented youth
Culture and Climate
Recommend organizational process or policy changes that will result in a positive culture and climate for all students.
Promote the importance of equity, cultural proficiency, cultural awareness, implicit bias, and anti-racist agenda and support these values within fiscal and asset management, and as part of the work environment.
Support communication methods that enhance the district’s standing with families, students and employees.
Plan, organize, direct, control, and staff the Districts’ Business Services functions
Interpret, administer, apply statutes, ordinances, policies, regulations, and directives
Make a variety of complex and detailed presentations to a wide spectrum of audiences, including, but not limited to, the Board of Education, City, County and State agencies, the Districts’ employees, and community groups.
Research, prepare, and present clear and concise and comprehensive reports
Maintain contacts and positive relations with the city, county and state agencies related to the Districts’ facilities and other business operations.

Knowledge of all laws, rules, regulations, and Ed Code related to school finance.
Education, Training and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher in business/public administration.
A Master's Degree or higher is preferred.
Three (3) years of management or executive experience, preferably in a K12 public education setting.
Three (3) years of experience in financial planning and auditing activities of a school district, preferably in a K12 public education setting.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Desire for second language proficiency in Spanish or other language to match community needs.
