ASSIGNMENT: 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. (Must be flexible, as times also vary depending on early release and minimum day schedule).
HOURLY RATE: $18.13
DEFINITION: Under the direction of A-OK Site Coordinator and the support from the After School Program Coordinator, the A-OK TK/K Program Leader supervises a group of 10-20 TK/K students with a second TK/K Program Leader, assisting with the homework help component and providing enrichment activities. As an A-OK TK/K team member, the Program Leader plans and delivers A-OK TK/K activities, considers age level developmental needs and interests, is a positive role model for students, supports students to experience a variety of learning opportunities, and creates a positive environment for learning and enrichment with a goal of 100% participation.
NOTE: State law requires that applicants selected for the position must complete a fingerprint process to check for or verify conviction record. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify you from employment, but failure to list convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
1. Conducts a group homework session.
2. Responsible for supervision transitions between activities and for leading a daily activity group in A-OK TK/K.
3. Responsible for inventory and orderliness of A-OK TK/K equipment/supplies storage areas.
4. Works with the site coordinator and other A-OK staff or consultants to plan and implement the program to best meet the needs of students at specific age levels.
5. Prepares the room or space for class each day; has all supplies ready for class.
6. Keeps attendance records as required.
7. Involves students in picking up materials and straightening the room or area at the end of class.
8. Checks to be sure the environment is safe, clean, and ready for activities.
OTHER GENERAL REQUIREMENTS ON THE JOB:
1. Be familiar with and uphold school and A-OK behavior policies and safety procedures.
2. Attend all staff meetings, training and workshops.
3. Inform the A-OK Site Coordinator and the After School Program Coordinator of any proposed special projects in advance for approval.
4. Assist other program staff on special events.
5. Responsible for notifying and reporting any problems or concerns of parents and/or children to the A-OK Program site coordinator.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Education and Experience: A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required. Must have experience working with groups of elementary school-aged children in an organized setting, and be able to successfully manage groups.
Knowledge and Abilities: Must be fluent in English. Spanish skills preferred, but not required.
Licenses and Other Requirements: TB test clearance required. State law requires that applicants selected for the position must complete a fingerprint process to check for or verify conviction record.
