The focus of the specialist is to develop a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in mathematics, while monitoring and improving student achievement to ensure that students meet grade level proficiency benchmarks.
Professional Responsibilities:
Provides direct instruction to students identified for math services in individual and/or small group settings.
Uses identified needs to create a learning process toward student achievement of the district’s content standards.
Establishes clear learning objectives using formal and informal assessment data.
Continuously monitors progress of students receiving intervention services in order to adjust practice and student groupings.
Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers regarding alignment between classroom instruction and interventions supporting skill transfer and development within the Tier 1 environment.
Develops instructional resources in conjunction with classroom teachers that support a student’s skill development in a variety of modalities.
Provides coaching and support to classroom teachers that optimizes instructional time and student learning at all tiers of instruction.
Provides coaching and support to classroom teachers to progress monitor all students via various assessment models to track and analyze growth, and to ensure fidelity and success of the interventions being used.
Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Curriculum
Qualifications: 1. Valid NH Teaching Certificate
2. Experience in high school math instruction.
3. Master’s Degree preferred or additional coursework in Mathematics to promote a strong understanding of mathematical practice standards.
4. Successful experience teaching at the high school level.
