The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the other members of the special education team to ensure a comprehensive special education program is available for all students in the district. The school psychologist will provide direct support and interventions to students, consult with teachers, families, and other school-employed mental health professionals (i.e., school counselors, school social workers) to improve support strategies, and work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies.Position Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Student Support Team (RTI Team) focusing on promoting student motivation and engagement, individualizing interventions, behavior management, etc.
- Conduct cognitive, sociial-emotional, behavioral, developmental and academic assessments, then complete written reports and participate in appropriate special education meetings
- Collaborate with other members of the special education team to write and implement individualized goals for identified students
- Monitor student progress on individualized goals and communicate effectively with parents about progress
- Provides behavior and mental health based services focused on students' individual needs, such as social skills, individual and group counseling, problem solving, anger management, conflict resolution, positive coping skills and resilience, postive peer relationships, social problem solving
- Make referrals to and help coordinate community services
- Provide crisis prevention and intervention services
- Help families understand their child's learning and mental health needs
- Assist school staff and families in navigating special education processes
