Title: Educational Technician III
Qualifications:
Satisfactory completion of two years of college/university or 60 college credit hours
Maintains or is eligible for Maine State Authorization as Educational Technician II
Participation in ongoing inservice training
Evidence of successful experience and background in working with young people
Ability to collaborate with others
Reports to: Building principal, Special Education Director, Curriculum Director/Instructional Consultants
Job Goal: To assist the teacher(s) to achieve academic, functional and behavioral objectives for students.
Performance Responsibilities:
Works with and engages individual students or small groups of students to review and reinforce functional and academic skills (i.e., learning previously introduced by the classroom teacher, appropriate content specialist, or licensed therapist) both inside and outside of the classroom as directed and supervised as necessary. Educational Technician IIs are allowed to plan for new learning under the supervision of a teacher.
Such duties include but are not limited to:
a. Maintaining classroom expectations of students
b. Assisting students on activities outside of the classroom (field trips, etc.)
c. Performing instructional duties (assists in practice activities, etc.)
d. Assisting the teacher(s) in other duties compatible with the job classification
e. Performing non-instructional functions and,
f. Performing, assisting with, and/or teaching self-care (i.e., feeding, toileting, mobility, diabetes,
health needs, dressing) for students.
2. Always works in a manner that meets professional responsibilities regarding regular and special education
requirements, including attending meetings and related consultations as directed, maintaining knowledge
of students goals,progress, and accommodations attending and documenting professional development as directed, maintaining confidentiality (FERPA) of student information, and following school board policies and procedures at all times.
3. Completes other duties as assigned.
