  TITLE:         School Food Service Assistant
 
JOB GOAL:     To assist in the preparation and serving of attractive, nutritious meals for students and staff.
 
REPORTS TO: School Food Service Manager
 
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma, or equivalent, preferred.
2. Ability to read and interpret documents, instructions, procedures, and menus.
3. Basic knowledge of mathematics.
4. Ability to complete daily production records and routine reports.
5. Must successfully pass the required health examination.
6. Ability to relate well to students, staff members, and co-workers.
7. Physical demands – must be able to stand and walk the majority of the day; must be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
 
JOB DUTIES:
 
1. Is present at work everyday and arrives at the assigned time.
2. Demonstrates an attitude and demeanor that contributes to an atmosphere of harmony and goodwill in the work place.
3. Works harmoniously with supervisors, school staff, district staff and parents.
4. Assists in the preparation and serving of food, to include the operation of all kitchen equipment.
5. Assists with the setup of cafeteria and serving lines.
6. Assists in clean up of utensils, equipment, and kitchen area.
7. Assists with restocking and inventory of food supplies.
8. Performs all duties in accordance with defined safety and sanitation standards.
9. Follows approved procedure for collecting meal payments and recording meals by category.
10. Attends approved training sessions, staff development activities, and meetings as required.
11. Complies with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, or any criminal activity for which the employee becomes aware.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 

EVALUATION:   Performance in this position is evaluated in accordance with the personnel on classified evaluations.
