    Job Summary:
    • Work daily directly with a team of youth in grades 5-12.
    • Guide youth in completing a variety of service learning projects.
    • Develop, organize, and implement daily service learning projects with youth.
    • Develop and maintain a high level of communication and positive relationships with parents, students, site team, and community partners.
    • Maintain a safe environment for youth during daily field trips and bus trips.
    • Employee also performs other tasks within the levels of responsibility indicated as assigned by supervisor.

    Qualifications:
    • Minimum education requirement is high school diploma or GED.
    • Minimum of 18 years of age.
    • Experience working with middle school and high school youth in an educational/recreational role preferred.
    • Value the perspectives of young people.
    • Previous experience in service learning.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse district staff, students, and community partners.
    • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Creative problem solver.
    • Flexibility.

    Summary:  An Early Childhood Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the lead teacher by organizing and maintaining the classroom environment, preparing materials and activities, contributing to curriculum plans, and providing classroom instruction for children.
     

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  

     
    • Assist the lead teacher with maintaining a safe and welcoming learning experience and environment.
    • Treat all parents and children with dignity and respect.
    • Gather supplies; prepare materials and activities for children’s learning experiences. 
    • Plan and implement the curriculum with the lead teacher which enhances all areas of development.
    • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive children’s and parent/child activities with the lead teacher.
    • Implement and supervise children’s learning activities in a purposeful way to promote development.
    • Observe, record, and report significant individual and group interactions to lead teacher.
    • Model appropriate interaction for parents and children.
    • Respectfully confront or redirect inappropriate behavior in children.
    • Respond to and differentiate learning for the individual needs of children.
    • Prepare and maintain a physical environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of the child. 
      • Leave the classroom presentable for the next class.
      • Arrange room to meet the special requirements of various age groups.
      • Request needed supplies and materials.
      • Monitor the safety of the environment and make necessary repairs.
      • Clean, and disinfect toys and equipment as needed.
    • Assume responsibilities as directed by the lead teacher.
    • Attend staff, team, and in-services meetings
    • Communicate regularly with lead teachers and office staff.
    • Support and respect all individual team members.
    • Assist PAIIR Office Staff with outreach as necessary.
    • Keep accurate records of attendance, conferences, and visitors.
    • Follow program policies and procedures.
    • Attend conferences, classes, and workshops relevant to early childhood family education and/or observe early childhood or ECFE programs.
    • Follow all District health and safety procedures including hand washing, toileting or diapering procedures when necessary, and monitor children’s health and fitness for participation in the program.
    • Report any suspected abuse or neglect as dictated by State, Federal, and Agency policies.
    • Other duties as assigned.
     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
     Six months to one year experience and/or training;  Associate’s degree (A.A), CDA; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
