    Job Summary:
    Work closely with American Indian Education Coordinator to:
    • Build and maintain positive connections between administration, staff, and families of American Indian students  
    • Manage student groups (small groups in buildings, larger intradistrict student groups, organize field trips and college visits
    • Ensure American Indian students have access to support systems needed to succeed in the Rochester Public Schools. 
    • Provide training and resources for staff on Indigenous culture, history, and culturally responsive practices.
    • Serve as a resource within the district on Indigenous education.
    • Collaborate with counselors, school social workers, administrators and staff to provide support services
    • Attend parent conferences and make home visits as requested
    • Provide outreach services to parents of American Indian students.
    • Assist new American Indian families with registration, orientation and follow-up services.
    • Perform other tasks within the level of responsibility of position as assigned by the Coordinator.
    • Develop and coordinate Higher Education collaboration with the district (Example: Get Ready for College and Career).
    • Provide enrichment opportunities for students (American Indian literature, with an emphasis on vocabulary and reading comprehension).
    • Work collaboratively with the American Indian Parent Committee

    Additional responsibilities to include:
    Involvement in Afterschool Programs during the school year (as necessary)
    • Academic tutoring
    • Work collaboratively with after school program coordinators
    • Ongoing support, conflict mediation and resolution services
    • Support for students in summer programming

    • Knowledge of community resources and agencies that support students and families.
    • Understanding of educational programs and assistance within the school setting to support and sustain student progress and success in making transitions from one level to the next.

    Job Summary:

    The American Indian Education Coordinator will serve as a vital liaison between Rochester Public Schools (RPS), American Indian students and families, tribal nations, and community organizations. The Coordinator will lead initiatives to support the academic success, cultural identity, and well-being of American Indian students across the district, ensuring alignment with Minnesota Statute 124D.78 and the needs of local Indigenous communities. This position will also oversee the American Indian Education Program, supervise the Liaison and Elder-in-Residence program, which is designed to strengthen cultural connections, support traditional knowledge-sharing, and enhance the district's efforts to create an inclusive educational environment for American Indian students.


    Key Responsibilties:

    Program Development & Support
    • Develop and implement culturally responsive programs that promote academic achievement, cultural identity, and college/career readiness for American Indian students.
    • Support the integration of American Indian history, language, and culture into classroom curriculum in collaboration with district educators.
    • Monitor student progress and collaborate with teachers, counselors, and families to create individualized support.
    • Manage student groups (small groups in buildings, larger intradistrict student groups, organize field trips and college visits
    • Organize annual spring powwow
    Family & Community Engagement
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with American Indian families, tribal leaders, and community organizations.
    • Facilitate regular family engagement events and listening sessions to gather input and provide updates on program initiatives.
    • Act as a cultural liaison and advocate for American Indian students and families within the district.
    Advisory Committee Coordination
    • Consult and assist with the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee (AIPAC) in compliance with state requirements.
      • Organize meetings, communicate with members, and report on progress toward goals.
    • Collaborate with AIPAC to assess needs and recommend improvements to the district's American Indian Education Program.
    Liaison & Elder-in-Residence Program Oversight
    • Oversee the American Indian Liaison, ensuring that culturally responsive support and guidance is provided to American Indian students and their families.
    • Coordinate the Elder-in-Residence program, which includes working with Elders from local tribal communities who will provide mentorship, traditional knowledge, cultural teachings, and guidance for students, teachers, and the wider school community.
    • Ensure that liaisons and Elders are integrated into the educational process and provide culturally relevant resources to the staff and students.
    Compliance & Reporting
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including Title VI and the Minnesota American Indian Education Act.
    • Prepare and submit required reports and data related to program outcomes, funding, and student success.
    • Write grants and manage program budgets tied to American Indian education initiatives.
    Professional Development
    • Provide training and resources for staff on Indigenous culture, history, and culturally responsive practices.
    • Serve as a resource within the district on Indigenous education.

    Qualifications:

    Required:
    • Bachelor's dergee in Education, Social Work, Indigenous Studies, or experience in related fields
    • Demonstrated knowledge of American Indian history, culture, and contemporary issues
    • Experience in working with American Idnian communities and/or youth
    • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
    Preferred:
    • American Indian descent or strong personal connection to an Indigenous community
    • Familiarity with Minnesota tribal nations and the educational need sof Indigenous students
    • Experience in managing or overseeing community programs, particularly those focused on Indigneous cultures
    • Experience in public education or school systems
    • Grant writing and program management experience

    Work Environment & Compensation:
    • This position will require occasional evening and weekend work

    Position Summary:
    Rochester Public School District School counselors define, manage, deliver, and assess culturally sustaining and comprehensive school counseling programs to improve student outcomes and increase access to opportunities for all students.

     

    RPS School Counselors:

     
    1. Help students discover their own strengths and interests, learn effective mindsets and behaviors, make personal connections to the content of their coursework, set short-term and long-term goals, and make individualized academic plans that support their long-term goals.
    2. Collaborate with students and their parents/caregivers, communities, teachers, and school leaders to improve academic, personal/social, and postsecondary outcomes.
    3. Prepare every student for a postsecondary pathway.
    4. Deliver the RPS Postsecondary Readiness Curriculum to large groups, classrooms, small groups, and individuals.

    Qualifications:

    Job Summary:

    The Instructional Facilitator for Career and Technical Education (CTE) is a licensed educator, responsible for supporting CTE programs across a range of fields including but not limited to Agriculture, Business, Marketing, Information Technology; Family and Consumer Sciences; Hospitality, Human Services, Health Sciences; Trade and Industry; and Work Based Learning. This role is focused on the development, alignment, and expansion of high-quality CTE programming that supports both students and educators. The Instructional Facilitator for Career and Technical Education (CTE) will collaborate with various district offices, to improve and develop curriculum and professional development, while promoting student participation in CTE courses. This position will also provide support to all work connected to the Carl D. Perkins Grant.

     

    Key Responsibilties:
    Program Development & Support
    • Oversee the alignment of CTE content and syllabi across district programs.
    • Work closely with the Office of Academics and Office of Equity and Engagement to develop and enhance CTE program offerings and expand pathways.
    • Support CTE programs, ensuring consistency and best practices district-wide.
    • Work collaboratively to increase experiential learning and work-based learning opportunities, including but not limited to job shadowing, field trips, mentorships, internships, and industry recognized certifications.
    • Work collaboratively with the Lead Counselor to support Xello implementation and expansion including the Work Based Learning component of Xello.
    Professional Development
    • Participate in professional development, workshops and conferences as necessary.
    • Coordinate and deliver professional development opportunities for CTE educators, aligned with developing programs of study and emerging industry standards.
    • Ensure ongoing support for teachers through resources, training, and access to grant opportunities including support for new CTE teachers.
    Collarberations & Partnerships

    • Collaborate with various district departments (Finance, Research, and Technology) to ensure accurate data and reporting.
    • Assist with the administration of budgets, including district and grant funds, ensuring equitable distribution and adherence to guidelines.
    • Attend CTE/Perkins convenings at local, state, and national levels to stay informed on trends, regulations, and funding opportunities.

    Qualifications:
    Required:
    • Minnesota Teaching License and teaching experience in a CTE field.

    Preferred:
