High School Principal

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Schools, to provide leadership and supervision in administering the educational program of the 7-12 School in order to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law.

To provide leadership in program development and improvement, as well as in professional staff development.
 
Essential Functions
 
• Develops and administers school programs consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Provides leadership and direction to staff with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extra-curricular activities.
• Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction, cooperative curriculum development, and student learning.
• Ensures that Board policies and procedures are implemented and followed at the school.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
• Encourages staff to continue to grow professionally and to experiment with new approaches or strategies to teaching.
• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and reporting for all student activities, attendance and records as required by law.
• Coordinates the work of school staff and school district program leaders to develop and implement instructional programs and teaching practices.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and works with teaching staff to modify instructional methods to fit students' needs, including students with special needs.
• Coordinates with the central office in recruitment and selection of employees, the proper maintenance of employee personnel files, the administration of collective bargaining agreements, corrective action, and other human resource issues.
• Organizes and conducts regular meetings with teachers for continuing development of instructional techniques.
• Involves staff in the evaluation of programs and the planning of new programs.
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies.
• Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement and continued employment.
• Organizes and manages the budgetary and financial affairs of the school consistent with school district policies.

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
 
Essential Functions

• Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the c school system.

• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.

Construction Trades Teacher

This individual teaches construction electives for students district wide and provides instruction for the Construction Trades program. Teacher Essential Functions:
 
1. Serve as an instructor of the program; tending to daily operations of the program. Maintain ongoing interaction with members of school administration, teaching, and counseling staff.

3. High School diploma plus 5 years of employment in related fields.
4. 5 + years of employment with specialization in Construction Trades.

The role of the Teacher Assistant is to assist the classroom Teacher in preparing and maintaining the environment in which the Montessori Learning approach to education is implemented. Key Duties and Responsibilities Work collaboratively with staff to develop and implement a curriculum that follows the Montessori Learning approach. Represent the school's mission, vision, and goals to parents and members of the community in a positive and supportive manner. 
 
 
 
Key Duties:
 
• Assist Classroom Teacher in preparing and maintaining a clean, orderly, and attractive classroom.

•  Engage students in maintaining the indoor and outdoor environment as appropriate. 

• Care for materials, keeping them complete, clean, beautiful, and accessible to children. 

• Keep the environment, storage area, and supplies clean, neat, and organized. 

• Regularly rotate, update, and expand materials to correspond to student needs. 

• Make, repair, maintain inventory of, and replace classroom materials. 

• Supervise students during their lunch.

• Supervise students during field trips and elective classes.

• Share responsibility for the daily safety, well-being, and supervision of students. Demonstrate respect, kindness, and rapport with all students.

• Maintain high expectations for student achievement and behavior while demonstrating compassion and awareness for student abilities and needs. 

• Assist Classroom Teacher in preparing for parent meetings as needed. 

• Assist in preparing written student evaluations of each child’s academic, social, and physical development to share with families during conferences. 

• Attend and participate in staff meetings, school events, field trips, and training opportunities. 

• Assist with parent education and outreach, including monthly newsletter articles, blog posts, and parent education workshops. 

• Adhere to professional standards as an educator to maintain quality and excellence. Work with other staff to maintain professional relationships of support and respect. 

• Complete an annual evaluation and review with the Classroom Teacher and Administration. 

• Be responsible for annual continuing education and professional development requirements. 

• Report all accidents or unusual situations to the Classroom Teacher and submit a dated Accident Report in the student file. 

• Notify the administration promptly of personal or professional difficulties with school, families, students, or staff, and work with them to resolve such problems. 

• Other duties as assigned.
