Job Summary:
Supervises a group of 20-25 students, assisting students with homework, providing enrichment, physical education, and assisting with meals and nutritional snacks; delivers curricula, considers age level developmental needs and interests; is a positive role model for students; supports students to experience a variety of learning opportunities, and creates a positive environment for learning and enrichment with a goal of 100% participation.
This is a specially funded position, dependent upon funding for continuance.
Hours: Monday-Friday 5 Hrs/Day – 185 Days/School Year
1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (Regular Day)
12:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. (Minimum Day)
Salary Schedule Range: Range 4: $17.50 - $18.89 / Hourly Rate
Available Positions:
2 positions - Golden Oak Elementary
2 positions - Redwood Elementary
2 positions - Sequoia Elementary
1 position - Richland Junior High
7 split site schedule position (schedule split between all sites: Golden Oak, Redwood, Sequoia Elementary, and Junior High School)
Minimum Qualifications & Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AA Degree or 48 Semester Units or meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through an assessment, the knowledge and ability to assist in instruction – (CODESP Exam).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public.
- Knowledge of basic instructional methods and techniques.
- Ability to interpret and follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Essential Functions: - Develops and prepares instructional materials, and implements activities for enrichment, physical education and homework assistance.
- Prepares and maintains student work areas, and creates a safe learning environment.
- Establishes cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adults.
- Observes and controls behavior of students according to approved procedures; reports progress regarding student performance and behavior to site leader and/or administrator.
- Assures the health and safety of students by following established practices and procedures; maintains learning environment in a safe, orderly, and clean manner.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Participates in staff development activities and staff meetings.
- Cross trains with site leader position in order to provide continuance services to students in the event of staff absences or emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee.
