Regional School District 8 is seeking a long term substitute for a School Counselor at RHAM High School for the 2025-26 school year. The ideal candidate should have strong communication, organizational, and time management skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, colleagues, and community resources.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping.
Provide individual and group counseling for students who would benefit from organizational, academic, or social-emotional support and/or social skills development.
Serve as case manager for students with 504 plans.
Attend PPT meetings, 504 meetings, and team meetings, as scheduled, and participate in the district’s SRBI and CORE teams.
Collaborate and communicate with school-based staff, community health providers, and social welfare agencies.
Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
Participate in the student scheduling process.
Participate in transition activities for students entering HS.
Present developmental guidance lessons and monitor and maintain Student Success Plans.
Attend staff, department, and professional meetings.
Provide crisis intervention as needed.
Conduct risk and threat assessments as needed.
Provide information regarding community resources to help assist families in need.
Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by Administration.
Qualifications: Candidates for this position must have a current Connecticut certification as a School Counselor (068). Prior experience working in a high school setting is preferred.
