Kelliher School offers grade Pre-K to 12 programming to an enrolment of approximately 130 students. Kelliher is located 152 km north-west of Regina. This is a temporary position that will commence as soon as possible and end on June 30, 2025, or upon return of incumbent, whichever is earlier.  

    Job Purpose:  Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus
    • Good working knowledge of The Highway and Transportation Act and The Traffic Safety Act
    • Good working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook and Saskatchewan Commercial Driver's Handbook
    • Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour
    • Demonstrated patience, maturity and experience working with children
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

    Qualifications:
    • Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License for at least 2 years.
    • Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement 
      • training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers
    • Clear driver's abstract, with no major infractions
      • A current Driver’s Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your application
      • A copy of the abstract can be:
    • Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with The Highway Traffic Act
    • First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Division's expense.

    Working Conditions:
    • Full time bus routes are paid at daily base rate of $56.44 plus a per km rate calculated at $0.21/km
      • The mileage for this route is paid at the minimum of 90 kms for a total of $75.34 per day
    • Drivers with young children may take their children with them on the bus
    • Subject to CUPE Agreement
    • Working in varied climates and differing road conditions
    • Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
