KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 
 
• Applied Knowledge: Athletic trainers must have knowledge about a large range of  medical problems. Assessment and evaluation skills and working with other healthcare  professionals will be needed. 
 
• Decision-Making Skills: Ability to think critically and make independent decisions  regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines.  
 
• Attention to Detail: should be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and  documentation. 
 
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situation when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families. 
 
• Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no  supervision. 
 
 
 
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES: 
 
• Develop plans for providing athletic training coverage at all interscholastic athletic  events identified in Athletic Training Program Coverage Policy. 
 
• Establish and maintain a budget for athletic training supplies/equipment 
 
• Establish daily hours of operation for the athletic training facility. 
 
• Develop comprehensive venue and condition specific emergency action plans. • Initiate and administer an athletic training student-aide program in accordance with the  school’s clubs and activities guidelines and state law.
 
• Establish a working relationship with a designated team physician and community  physicians. 
 
• Establish a working relationship with school nursing staff.  
 
• Complete (school systems) policies training to include: Blood Borne Pathogens Exposure  Control Plan training and comply with the regulations therein.  
 
• Maintain adequate medical records on all injuries and rehabilitation procedures. • Comply with any and all policies regarding health care delivery as indicated by the  school systems regulations, and outlined in the Athletic Injury Management section of  the school’s athletic training program policies and procedures manual.  
 
• Develop coach’s professional development for CPR/AED, Concussion, Heat Illness,  Sudden Cardiac Death, Sickle Cell  
 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel top away football games will be required.
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 
 
Work is medium demand. Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects.  Medium strength is required to position patients for examination. The focus of this position is to provide monitoring of compliance with federal, state and local policies and procedures, monitoring of instruction and specially designed instruction, training school and district staff in an effort to build capacity and retention, increase staff knowledge, improve student outcomes and decrease the number of complaints and increase the level of compliance throughout the district.
 
Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of students and compliance with ADA, State and Federal Regulations.

• Coordinate, prepare and present current procedural programmatic issues regarding special education.
 
Manage Due Process Procedures

Primary Purpose:
The Exceptional Children’s Coordinator is responsible for identifying, developing, and coordinating resources at each assigned campus to meet the needs of students who qualify for special education. The Coordinator collaborates with campus personnel to ensure the implementation of high-quality, research-based instructional best practices that support student success. Major Responsibilities and Duties:
 
1. Serve as an instructional leader, consultant, and support for all the teachers and students on the campuses and the program areas assigned.

12. Participate in Annual Review Development/Initial meetings as needed, monitor theappropriate development of IEPs for quality programming, and follow-up to ensure
 
compliance with the IEP.
 
13. Coordinate transition services of children from home to school environment, from one educational program to another, and from high school to higher education or successful job placement, or to other agency services.

14. Serve as a conflict mediator/problem solver in crisis situations concerning program, placement, and behavior of students.

15. Advise campus administration regarding appropriate scheduling of students, maximum usage of staff, utilization of facilities, appropriate materials and equipment selection.

16. Analyze campus/district data and prepare reports (Comprehensive Assessments) for campus and department program planning.

17. Coordinate services as needed with other departments such as transportation, food service, vocational, etc.

18. Work with other school districts, education agencies, and community agencies in developing activities to assist students with disabilities.

19. Keep the Exceptional Children Director fully informed with respect to staff, classroom and equipment needs, as well as, possible problem areas.

20. Maintain a high degree of communication, collaboration, and cooperation with all members of the Exceptional Children’s department and support its programs and objectives.

Description of the Work:
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for the Early Literacy Specialist position within the Office of Early Learning. The position will be located in an assigned district space. The responsibilities include:

Aligned Mission and Vision:
♦Coordinate, align, and support the application and professional development (PD) of the Read to Achieve Act
♦Collaborate with NCDPI Office of Early Learning to align Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS®) and literacy PD and implementation at the district level
♦Develop and support pacing LETRS® implementation at the school level in alignment with district and state expectations
District Human Resources:
♦ Support professional learning community teams in collaboration with district and school leaders to ensure implementation and transfer to instructional practice
♦ Support, collaborate, and coach identified low performing schools where assigned per the NCDPI Low Performing Coaching Model
♦ Model effective coaching, facilitation, and conferencing techniques

Stakeholder Training/Professional Development:
♦ Successfully complete and master K-5 and Early Childhood LETRS® professional development per Office of Early Learning Director’s timeline requirement

Necessary Requirements:
