ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs General Clerical Functions (50%)- Support office operations by performing general clerical functions such as scheduling, copying, faxing, data entry, and filing.
- Answer, screen, and transfer calls, and respond to inquiries and/or take messages as needed.
- Maintain building information and resources including schedules, staff directories, and emergency contacts.
- Maintain materials and resources that communicate school events and activities (i.e. newsletters, event calendars, etc.).
- Process a variety of records including student records, transcripts, tutor lists, guardianship packets, etc.
- Sort and distribute school mail, packages, and supplies.
- Maintain and transmit information via email and print.
- Review, sort, and distribute application packets and other student related documents.
Greets Visitors and Answers General Inquiries (20%) - Greet individuals entering the building and direct them to the appropriate person or location.
- Respond to general inquiries and provide support needed to reach resolutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Serves as Teacher Assistant (30%) - Assist students assigned to the program with completing their regular classroom assignments.
- Assist the teacher and reinforce instruction taught in the classroom to students.
- Supervise the students outside of the classroom on the playground, during bathroom breaks, and at lunch time.
- Assist the teacher by entering grades or typing up class summaries.
- Assist with organizing the classroom and put supplies in order.
- Complete supportive work, such as organizing paperwork, photocopying, and preparing and producing materials used in instruction, bulletins, and classroom displays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to perform the above described duties.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, work under limited supervision, and problem solve, and manipulate data based on defined processes.
**All employees hired by the school district must pass a criminal background and child abuse registry check.** PREFERRED SKILLS - Problem resolution experience, with ability to independently interpret and abide by guidelines.
- Ability to utilize job-related equipment and work with varied types of data.
- Excellent human relations and communications skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and school staff.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds, bend stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
