ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Live Streaming Events (60% of time)- Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot cameras, microphones, and streaming software to ensure high-quality live broadcasts. Properly shut down and store equipment, review recorded footage for archiving or highlights, and submit any issues encountered to the appropriate supervisor.
- Identify and resolve technical problems to minimize disruptions and maintain a seamless viewing experience.
- Set up equipment, test streams, and ensure proper coordination with coaches, athletic directors, and event staff.
- Collaborate with digital media/journalism teachers to help manage student workers needed for live stream production.
- Adhere to copyright laws, licensing agreements, and school policies while avoiding inappropriate content.
- Display advertisements and ensure proper placement during live streams.
- Utilize automated streaming when available or conduct manual productions with multiple camera angles, real-time scoreboard displays, and play-by-play commentary.
Marketing/Advertising/Branding of Events (20% of time) - Support district activities with video and photography as needed.
- Promote district activities via social media in coordination with the communications team.
- Produce news releases to support district activities as needed in coordination with the communications team.
- Assist with promoting district initiatives related to OSD activities.
- Maintain/Update Activities pages on the OSD Website.
Media Relations (10% of time) - Provide information to the Communications team for the production of news releases and other media communications for OSD activities.
- Contribute to a climate of cooperation between the media and district for mutual benefit in the dissemination of OSD activities news to public audiences at the local and national levels.
- Support media related events by supplying reporters with pertinent sports information and providing photography.
- Maintain positive relationships with local media representatives and reporters.
Additional Duties (10% of time) - Represent the school positively by maintaining professionalism, handling unexpected challenges, and ensuring consistency in production quality.
- Collaborate with digital media/journalism teachers to help manage student workers needed for media day productions with each team coach/director.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Sports Information, or other related fields from an accredited college or university.
- Experience with public relations, community relations, and/or media relations
- Knowledge of graphic design principles and ability to quickly generate creative support for graphics.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including writing, editing and proofreading.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and external constituents.
- Proficiency in the usage of internet software, e-mail and word processing software.
**All employees hired by the school district must pass a criminal background and child abuse registry check.** PREFERRED SKILLS - At least 3 years of experience with directing organizational public relations, community relations, and/or media relations.
- Experience with live streaming software, cameras, microphones, and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Quick thinking and adaptability to resolve technical or logistical issues during live broadcasts.
- Ability to take complex ideas and communicate them to a diverse audience. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
- Capability to recruit, train, and manage student workers to build capacity within the program.
