SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:
The High School Assistant Principal is the co-instructional leader of the school community, responsible for establishing an instructional vision and a focused plan for improving student achievement; monitoring and supervising instruction; supporting teachers in improving their instructional practice; creating a community of continuous learning for all staff and students; and fostering a culture of high expectations for all students. The assistant principal is charged with building strong partnerships with families and community, creating a safe, supportive school climate, and effectively managing operational, technical and staff issues to promote instructional progress.  The assistant principal works collaboratively with the district leadership team to advance the Orting Student Learning ENDS and Strategic Goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
1. Effectively implement the district’s instructional framework to support staff in inquiry and professional growth.
2. Provide targeted professional development aligned to strategic ENDS and goals to support student learning.
3. Understand and communicate Washington State Learning Standards and ensure implementation of standards-based curriculum.
4. Provide vision for and support the development and growth of Professional Learning Communities.
5. Collect, analyze and utilize data effectively to guide and support student learning, implement targeted interventions, and monitor learning progress. Experience in working with subgroups of students not meeting their full learning potential preferred.
6. Collaborate with administrative leadership team and staff to develop and implement a multi-tiered system of support.
7. Collaborate with Human Resources Department in recruiting highly qualified job applicants and making recommendations for hire and to resolve employee relations issues.
8. Conduct investigations and discipline employees appropriately per district policy and collective bargaining agreements.
9. Develop and foster community connections that will enhance the educational experience of all students.
10. Plan and implement appropriate professional development that addresses the needs of staff and aligns to the district's Strategic Plan.
11. Effectively manage conflict within the school building.
12. Schedule and organize student activities and state testing.
13. Evaluate classified and certificated employees according to best practices, local bargaining agreements, and district policy.
14. Report issues to authorities as necessary; child abuse, suspicious activity etc.
15. Clearly communicate the district's vision and mission to your school community and maintain a positive school climate.
16. Engage in reciprocal accountability with colleagues to the district’s norms, collective commitments and decision making filters.
17. Understand Washington and federal education laws and be able to effectively communicate related accountability systems.
18. Effectively manage building budget in collaboration with the budget committee.
19. Facilitate and lead the implementation of the school improvement plan.
20. Identify students that have special needs and understand student referral systems.
21. Advocate for children and actively embrace community involvement.
22. Appreciate and respect diversity and difference in the school community.
23. Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
24. Demonstrate a commitment to personal growth and learning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities in providing leadership in a complex educational organization including:
• Possess or qualifies for Washington State Principal’s certification.
• Completion of a Master’s degree in an approved college program.
• A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
• High school level experience highly preferred.
• Experience using Washington State instructional framework – 5D framework preferred.
• Effective communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work year:             July 1 - June 30
Base Salary:         2024-25  $148,766 - $160,204 DOE;  2025-26 IPD + 2% will be added
Professional Responsibility Stipend (PRS): 10 days at per diem (based on 218 days)
Wellness Stipend
Twenty-six (26) annual vacation days; cash-out up to six (6) days annually
Thirteen (13) paid holidays
Four (4) annual personal days accumulative to six (6); cash-out two (2) days annually

4. Provides clear and focused instruction for all students by using a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students to assure successful learning through the articulated curriculum to achieve district/state student learning standards.
5. Provides on-going assessment and monitors students for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectation and goals by using quality classroom-based assessment and/or district/state assessment tools.
6. Establishes and maintains a standard of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, safe and productive learning environment.
7. Communicates positively and regularly with parents and/or legal guardians including areas of growth, student progress, teacher expectations, developing a meaningful collaboration between home and school.

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT: This employee is responsible for organizing and implementing a therapy program to meet the needs of speech, language and hearing impaired students and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in laws and policies. Speech and Language services are federally mandated through IDEA, governed by licensure laws, and WACS-Washington Administrative Codes.

GENERAL LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS:

2. Implement principles and practices of effective leadership and management as well as research-based best practices.

Preferred Experience: Previous training and experience in Pediatrics or School District is desirable. Will consider new graduates without preferred experience.

JOB TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT: The role of School Psychologist provides diagnostic and consultative psychological services in accordance with Board policy and standards set by professional psychological organizations. This includes assessing the psycho-educational needs of students, their implications, and means of intervening. The School Psychologist works in coordination with building principals and other staff, within the Department of Student Support Services.

GENERAL LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS:

2. Implement principles and practices of effective leadership and management as well as research-based best practices.
3. Facilitate and promote collaborative decision-making and consensus among groups of individuals with diverse interests, values, and needs; provide guidance and direction to staff; facilitate conflict resolution; and inspire and support staff in carrying out District and Department goals.
4. Participate as a member or facilitator in meetings, workshops, and seminars that may involve a wide range of issues such as goals attainment, problem resolution, and District operations for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job duties.
5. Recommend solutions to a wide variety of issues for the purpose of addressing the short and long-term needs of the District.

Such assessments may use a variety of standardized and nonstandardized instruments/procedures to collect data; areas assessed may include socialemotional adjustment, cognitive and aptitude, academic achievement, language and communication skills, learning styles, sensory and perceptual-motor functioning, adaptive behavior, environmental cultural influences.
3. Participates in facilitating the design and development of building level procedures to prevent educational failure and meet the mental health and learning needs of students.
4. Integrates information into an accurate and useful overview to be used for determining intervention, programs and service needs; participates as a multidisciplinary team (MDT) member and compiles information, which may include a written report integrating assessment results and implications, and providing feedback to MDT members and parents for all students formally referred.
5. Consults and collaborates in developing and maintaining positive relationships among students, parents and teachers, and involving them in assessment, interventions, and program evaluation procedures.
6. Provides, as appropriate, direct and indirect psychological interventions to facilitate the functioning of individuals and groups, such as developing, implementing and monitoring behavioral management strategies, providing group and individual counseling, designing intervention programs to enhance cognitive, affective, social, and vocational development in the school environment.
7. Initiates, expedites, and manages referrals to other agencies and specialists, as appropriate.
8. Integrates and interprets the steps and processes involved in implementing Board policies and other appropriate laws used in determining students· program and service needs.
9. Develops and assists in the development of in-service and other skill enhancement activities for school personnel, parents and others within the school and district, where appropriate.
10. May consult with program staff on how to design and interpret research to improve program effectiveness within total school programs, as appropriate.
11. Performs related duties as assigned.

Education: Master’s degree in School Psychology.

Length and Type of Experience: Completion of an internship under supervision in an educational setting.

PREFERRED: Three (3) years professional psychological experience providing services to children and youth; National Certified School Psychologist certificate; experience working with students with limited English proficiency and multicultural, global and interdisciplinary education; teaching experience; knowledge pf public school operations; valid Washington State driver's license.

9. Develop and submit the annual staffing budget for all regular positions.
10. Assist in coordinating and managing employment background checks.

13. Maintain records and documentation pertaining to hiring, compliance issues, and required reporting.

3. Assists certificated staff in maintaining records, logs, charts, assignments and other records for assessment of student progress. May correct, score or grade papers and assignments according to guidelines or instructions.
4. Works as a member of the program instructional team to provide programs and services to eligible students.
5. Depending upon assignment, may pull students out of regular classroom for remediation as directed by the program coordinator. Locates, prepares and/or modifies materials for student use under the direction of certificated staff. Provides guidance and motivation to students; facilitates mastery of skills concepts; promotes completion of work.
6. Communicates with certificated staff concerning individual student needs and progress; assists with developing schedules for tutoring; adapts and presents lessons; checks and scores student assignments.
7. Constructs learning tools such as flash cards, number games, and other learning materials; may research and locate learning materials; compiles materials for student assignments; may order materials and supplies as needed.
8. Assists students with interpersonal and personal skills mastery.
9. Establishes and maintains effective communication with students, staff, parents and the public for student progress and safety, and community relations.
10. Monitors need for first aid for injured or ill students and refers for treatment as appropriate.
11. Locates, prepares and/or modifies materials for student use, enrichment activities and special projects under the direction of certificated staff.
12. Prepares, duplicates, collates and distributes materials; operates a variety of office equipment.
13. Assist in student supervision and discipline.
14. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:  Under the direction of building administrators, the position of Elementary Secretary manages the operations of the school front office with a high level of efficiency and professionalism. Promotes positive public relations toward employees, students, and the public. Serves as secretary to the building administration and provides support services for students, staff, and parents.
 
GENERAL LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is not an exhaustive list of all essential duties associated with the job. While this is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current responsibilities, the district reserves the right to revise the job as necessitated by operational need.
1. Manage the operation of the front office.  Serve as receptionist, answers telephones, intercom, in-person inquiries from students, staff, parents and public.  Screen calls for the principal, assistant principal and staff.  Receive and distribute mail to the principal and assistant principal.
2. Act as personal secretary to the principal, assistant principal and aid the counselor in various activities; coordinate appointments and meetings between district office, other schools, parents and community members; prepare enrollment and various other reports as required by the state or district office; compose and type correspondence for both principal and assistant principal; type morning bulletin and school newsletters; type agendas and minutes for building meetings.
3. Assist registered nurse and building LPN/Health Technician as necessary.
4. Coordinate requests for homework for students who are ill or suspended from school. 
5. Set up appointments for parent-teacher conferences and staffing.
6. Keep records of staff absence and substitute records, prepare classified time sheets and coordinate this information with the district office. Arrange for substitutes for both certified (when absence is pre-arranged) and classified personnel and coordinate information with district sub clerk.  Provide substitutes their assignment for the day when they arrive at school.
7. Set up and enter data in the computer for both staff and student information.  Coordinate a variety of programs such as voter registration, surveys, school pictures, PTA and various other activities.  Coordinate building use with district office and monitors building keys.
8. Process purchase orders and receive, account for, and inventory all building supplies, textbooks and materials for the building throughout the school year.  Enter data and provide reports for ASB council and ASB supervisor.  Coordinate accounting with district office personnel.
9. Monitor behavior of students who have been sent to the office for various reasons.  Also supervise and train student office aides.  Provide clerical assistance to teachers and other staff.
10. Promote effective public relations with parents and community.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of secretarial experience preferred. Or, any combination of targeted job-related education and experience which provides the applicant with the requisite knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work and that meets applicable requirements of the position may be considered.
 
REQUIRED LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
May be required to have a valid State of Washington Driver’s license. Hold a current First Aid/CPR card, or have the ability to obtain before the first day of employment.
 
REPORTS TO: Building Principal or designee.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work Year       216 days per year (includes paid holidays that fall within the work year calendar)

The Assistant Secretary also serves as health room back-up in the absence of the school nurse.

This is an on-call position. The emergency certificated Substitute Teacher will work with the principal and staff members to ensure that the instructional program is carried out for each job assignment. The substitute will carry out instruction and activities that meet students’ educational needs and meet the Washington State Learning Standards. Particular emphasis will be placed upon establishing productive communication with staff, parents and students. The Substitute Teacher's workday for a full time assignment is 7.5 hours, including a 30 minute duty free lunch period.
 
Bachelor's degree desired, but not required to be an emergency Substitute Teacher. Those not holding a degree who are enrolled in a teacher prep program and/or have years of classroom experience in a classified position will also be considered.

COMPENSATION
 
• Daily Sub Rate: $200
• Half Day Sub Rate: $100
• Upon hire, paid training will be provided ahead of your first day in a classroom in a substitute teacher role.
 
SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:
The classroom teacher will create a class environment that implements the district articulated curriculum that provides positive learning experiences for all students, including providing each student with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to lead self-sufficient, healthy, productive socially responsible lives to the best of their individual potential.  The teacher will establish positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members.  The teacher will document student progress, set appropriate learning goals, design lesson plans, plan activities and outcomes; address specific educational needs for each student; communicate feedback to student’s parents and the administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will work collaboratively with staff, attend team meetings. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities, including active participation in our Professional Learning Community (PLC) process when appropriate for the substitute assignment.

5. Provides on-going assessment and monitors students for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectation and goals by using quality classroom-based assessment and/or district/state assessment tools.
6. Establishes and maintains a standard of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, safe and productive learning environment.
7. Communicates positively and regularly with parents and/or legal guardians including areas of growth, student progress, teacher expectations, developing a meaningful collaboration between home and school.
8. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Licenses/Special Requirements
Once issued, must maintain emergency substitute certification as a condition of continued employment.
Valid Washington State emergency substitute teaching certificate per OSPI.

JOB SUMMARY: The substitute teacher provides instruction in an assigned classroom in the absence of the teacher.The substitute teacher will create a class environment that implements the district articulated curriculum that provides positive learning experiences for all students, including providing each student with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to lead self-sufficient, healthy, productive socially responsible lives to the best of their individual potential.  The teacher will establish positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience             
Bachelor’s degree with appropriate educational endorsement.
 
LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must maintain all licenses and certifications as a condition of continued employment.
Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement per OSPI.
Completed employment application and successful background check upon hire.

COMPENSATION:
• Daily Sub Rate: $200
• Half Day Sub Rate: $100
• Daily Certificated Retiree* Sub Rate: $225
• Half Day Retiree* Sub Rate: $112.50
            *Those eligible have retired through a department of retirement systems or are at least 55 years of age or older with a minimum of 20 verifiable years' teaching experience

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES:
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Assess the needs of the students and provide a suitable learning environment to meet their needs.
• Maintain order in the classroom and ensure a caring, safe learning environment, with clear routines and procedures designed to minimize disruption and maximize student on task time.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Maintain safe and healthful conditions in the classroom and report promptly to the principal any serious accident or illness affecting students in the classroom.
• Provide instruction in assigned classroom implementing lesson plans provided by the teacher.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or students groups involved.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
• Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
• Supervises students in hallways, at recess or busses as scheduled, and as assigned during extraordinary or emergency situations.
• Maintains confidentiality assuring that all students, staff and parents right to privacy is ensured.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Required to deal with a wide range of staff expertise; will experience frequent interruptions and the need to remain flexible to meet the needs of others; may deal with angry or distraught people; experience demands from a diversity of others, including students, community and staff; involves sitting, walking and standing; potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students; in some positions the necessary and appropriate instructional methods may require specific positions and movements, and sufficient stamina and exertions, to demonstrate techniques properly for the safety of others, or to conduct or direct staff; may teach in a room without telephone communication; will involve attendance at meetings beyond regular business hours periodically.

Training: $16.28 minimum wage during "classroom time" 
2024-2025: Sub Rate: $26.08 *including driver training up to and as a CDL holder, and route training  

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A valid motor vehicle operator's license with class B or higher Commercial Driver Endorsement (CDL) with passenger and air brake endorsement.
• Good physical condition.
• Ability to get from the driver's seat and outside emergency door in 20 seconds or less.
• Ability to relate to students, staff and parents.
• Ability to perform duties with students on bus.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Valid first aid and CPR certification.
• Work Skills Assessments: Achieve minimum acceptable levels/scores in reading and/or math assessments.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screening requirements.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Have at least five years of experience as a licensed driver of a passenger vehicle.

REQUIRED LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
• Must be able to successfully complete a Washington State Patrol and a Federal Bureau of Investigation background and criminal history check pursuant to RCW 43.43.830/832.
• Meet all requirements for holding a school bus driver authorization, including a review of a five-year abstract of your driving record.
• Must be able to successfully complete a school bus driver training program facilitated by an authorized school bus driver instructor.

PERFORMANCE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Pre-trip/Post-trip functions of school vehicle as outlined in Orting School District Driver's Handbook:
 
• check fuel level and fill when fuel is under half tank
• check oil level, water level, wiper washer water level, wipers, tires
• check outside of vehicle for any new damage, inside for any cut seats or vandalism,
• check all lights
• check all emergency exits from both inside and out,
• mirrors for proper adjustment
• maintain clean windows, inside and out
• check fire extinguisher, first aid kit, body fluid clean up kit, and emergency triangles, to make sure everything is there, and working properly.
• At end of each route, inspect bus interior, pick up anything left, look for sleeping children.

     2. Clean the bus as required.
     3. Attend to students special needs as outlined in Orting School District Driver's Handbook.
     4. Handle student discipline as outlined in Orting School District Driver's Handbook.
     5. Maintain current "route maps"
     6. Comply with standards and expectations as outlined in Orting School District Driver's Handbook.
     7. Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

We are seeking applicants with skills, abilities, and willingness to provide instructional assistance and/or supervision for absent paraeducators. Paraeducators work under certificated teacher who leads the work to provide instructional or other appropriate services to students. 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to relate to students, staff and parents.
• Acceptable verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to utilize appropriate strategies and techniques to provide effective instructional support.

PERFORMANCE, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with students individually or in small groups in a variety of content areas/subjects.
• Provide for the safety of students at assigned work area by enforcing the rules for the site.
• Correct papers.
• Assist staff, as appropriate, in the design, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs and student progress.
• Assist in student supervision, discipline and safety.
• File papers, run errands, operate duplication machines, attendance, minor clerical duties.
• Lead group discussions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
2024-2025 Substitute Rates: 
Paraeducator I, II, III: $22.55
High Needs Paraeducator I,II,III:  $23.62

Licenses/Special Requirements
• Fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor.
• Must complete SafeSchools trainings and adhere to district infection control plan.
• May be required to obtain first aid and CPR certification.

BENEFITS:
For on-call positions, eligibility for benefits is determined by a number of factors, including the number of hours an employee worked during the last two (2) school years (September 1 through August 31). Some on-call positions may not be benefit eligible. Benefits are administered through the Payroll Department. Additional information is available on their district webpage. Regular employees who are not in on-call positions and are anticipated to work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program.

Other benefits include VEBA, which is a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) and serves as a way to contribute dollars on a pre-tax basis for out of pocket benefits costs, whether it be for medical, dental or vision premiums, or any other out of pocket medical expenses. This benefit is available, based on the outcome of annual voting of employees by group.
