  •   We are seeking applicants for Substitute Health Technician and/or Licensed Practical Nurses to provide coverage in our school house health rooms for absent Health Tech or LPNs. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The statements contained herein reflect general duties to describe the primary functions of a substitute and should not be considered an all inclusive listing of work requirements.
    1. Monitors students in a variety of settings such as the health room, classroom
    2. Assists with various health screenings, i.e., hearing, vision, height/weight, etc.
    3. Assists with management of health room (s)
    4. Assists in the care and maintenance and inventory of supplies and equipment for health rooms
    5. Models appropriate behavior for students
    6. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, parents and students
    7. Maintains appropriate confidentiality
    8. Complies with applicable District, State and Federal rules, policies and practice
    9. Performs other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    • Knowledge to perform basic math and reading
    • Skills to obtain, clarify and exchange information
    • Skills to gather/collect and record data
    • Ability to remain calm and focused under stressful conditions
    • Ability to use job related equipment and technology
    • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and responsibilities
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Job duties involve sitting, standing, bending, stooping, walking and lifting students. Exposed to body fluids and infectious disease. May be exposed to high noise levels. May be required to deal with distraught and potentially violent students. Work is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

    HEALTH TECH/LPN: (Must provide a valid State of WA Practical Nurse License):
    2024-2025: Sub Rate for LPN/Health Technician: $30.13
    2024-2025: Sub Rate for Health Technicians (who do not hold an LPN License): $21.76

    LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
    For LPN, provide valid State of Washington Practical Nurse License (LPN)
    Fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor.
    Must complete SafeSchools trainings and adhere to district infection control plan.
    First Aid and CPR Certification (Must provide a copy of the certification)


    BENEFITS:
    For on-call positions, eligibility for benefits is determined by a number of factors, including the number of hours an employee worked during the last two (2) school years (September 1 through August 31). Some on-call positions may not be benefit eligible. Benefits are administered through the Payroll Department. Additional information is available on their district webpage.     Regular employees who are not in on-call positions and are anticipated to work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program.
     
    The district's healthcare benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Benefit eligible employees also qualify to optionally participate in deferred compensation/403B plans, dependent care flexible spending/health savings accounts, and additional life insurance and/or added long-term disability coverage through employee contributions.  Sick leave, vacation, personal leave, and any paid holidays are aligned with bargaining agreements by association, as listed on our website.
     
    Other benefits include VEBA, which is a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) and serves as a way to contribute dollars on a pre-tax basis for out of pocket benefits costs, whether it be for medical, dental or vision premiums, or any other out of pocket medical expenses. This benefit is available, based on the outcome of annual voting of employees by group.
