JOB TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT: The role of School Psychologist provides diagnostic and consultative psychological services in accordance with Board policy and standards set by professional psychological organizations. This includes assessing the psycho-educational needs of students, their implications, and means of intervening. The School Psychologist works in coordination with building principals and other staff, within the Department of Student Support Services.
GENERAL LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS: 1. Understand and support the educational environment and the District’s mission, vision, and Strategic Plan.
2. Implement principles and practices of effective leadership and management as well as research-based best practices.
3. Facilitate and promote collaborative decision-making and consensus among groups of individuals with diverse interests, values, and needs; provide guidance and direction to staff; facilitate conflict resolution; and inspire and support staff in carrying out District and Department goals.
4. Participate as a member or facilitator in meetings, workshops, and seminars that may involve a wide range of issues such as goals attainment, problem resolution, and District operations for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job duties.
5. Recommend solutions to a wide variety of issues for the purpose of addressing the short and long-term needs of the District.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is not an exhaustive list of all essential duties associated with the job. Consults and collaborates with parents, school staff, and outside agency personnel regarding the psycho-educational needs of students, their implications, and means of intervening.
2. Conducts comprehensive psychological and psycho-educational assessments of children and youth, as appropriate. Such assessments may use a variety of standardized and nonstandardized instruments/procedures to collect data; areas assessed may include socialemotional adjustment, cognitive and aptitude, academic achievement, language and communication skills, learning styles, sensory and perceptual-motor functioning, adaptive behavior, environmental cultural influences.
3. Participates in facilitating the design and development of building level procedures to prevent educational failure and meet the mental health and learning needs of students.
4. Integrates information into an accurate and useful overview to be used for determining intervention, programs and service needs; participates as a multidisciplinary team (MDT) member and compiles information, which may include a written report integrating assessment results and implications, and providing feedback to MDT members and parents for all students formally referred.
5. Consults and collaborates in developing and maintaining positive relationships among students, parents and teachers, and involving them in assessment, interventions, and program evaluation procedures.
6. Provides, as appropriate, direct and indirect psychological interventions to facilitate the functioning of individuals and groups, such as developing, implementing and monitoring behavioral management strategies, providing group and individual counseling, designing intervention programs to enhance cognitive, affective, social, and vocational development in the school environment.
7. Initiates, expedites, and manages referrals to other agencies and specialists, as appropriate.
8. Integrates and interprets the steps and processes involved in implementing Board policies and other appropriate laws used in determining students· program and service needs.
9. Develops and assists in the development of in-service and other skill enhancement activities for school personnel, parents and others within the school and district, where appropriate.
10. May consult with program staff on how to design and interpret research to improve program effectiveness within total school programs, as appropriate.
11. Performs related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: - Knowledge and skill in school psychology principles, methods, and techniques.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Master’s degree in School Psychology.
Length and Type of Experience: Completion of an internship under supervision in an educational setting.
PREFERRED: Three (3) years professional psychological experience providing services to children and youth; National Certified School Psychologist certificate; experience working with students with limited English proficiency and multicultural, global and interdisciplinary education; teaching experience; knowledge pf public school operations; valid Washington State driver's license.
REQUIRED LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Valid Washington State ESA School Psychologist Certificate Knowledge of State and Federal laws in assigned area. Ability to pass a criminal justice fingerprint and background check.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director for Student Support Services, with input from the school Principal.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Requires concentration to detail. Required to deal with a wide range of staff expertise; will experience frequent interruptions and the need to remain flexible to meet the needs of others; may deal with angry or distraught people; experience demands from a diversity of others, including students, community and staff; involves sitting, walking and standing; potentially exposed to ordinary infectious diseases carried by students; in some positions the necessary and appropriate instructional methods may require specific positions and movements, and sufficient stamina and exertions, to demonstrate techniques properly for the safety of others, or to conduct or direct staff; may teach in a room without telephone communication; will involve attendance at meetings beyond regular business hours periodically. Have precise controls of fingers and hand movements. Focus on a computer screen for extended periods of time. May be required to operate a motor vehicle on public roads and/or to be able to access various campus sites through a form a travel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work Year: 180 days aligned with the academic school calendar, plus 4 Enrichment Days (August 26, 27, 28, 2025, and February 17, 2026)
Paid Hours: 7.5 per day, including 30 minute lunch period
Time of Contract Hours: Work day starts 30 minutes before the student bell schedule and concludes 30 minutes after the student day ends at the work location
