SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:
The classroom teacher will create a class environment that implements the district articulated curriculum for their content area that provides positive learning experiences for all students, including providing each student with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to lead self-sufficient, healthy, productive, socially responsible lives to the best of their individual potential.  The teacher will establish positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members.  The teacher will document student progress, set appropriate learning goals, design lesson plans, plan activities and outcomes; address specific educational needs of all students; communicate feedback to student’s parents and the administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will use assessment results to guide and implement differentiated instructional strategies.  The teacher will work collaboratively with staff, attend department meetings, and participate in extracurricular activities where appropriate. The teacher will maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities, including active participation in our Professional Learning Community (PLC) process.

2. Implements district adopted curricula that is appropriate for content area that integrate with the Washington State Learning Standards.
3. Reports incidents of child abuse, altercations, and substance abuse for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to the educational code of ethics and district/school policies.
4. Provides clear and focused instruction for all students by using a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students to assure successful learning through the articulated curriculum to achieve district/state student learning standards.
5. Provides on-going assessment and monitors students for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectation and goals by using quality classroom-based assessment and/or district/state assessment tools.
6. Establishes and maintains a standard of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, safe and productive learning environment.
7. Communicates positively and regularly with parents and/or legal guardians including areas of growth, student progress, teacher expectations, developing a meaningful collaboration between home and school.
8. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement per OSPI.

Paid Hours:    7.0 per day, plus 30 minute duty free lunch period
Time of Contract Hours: Work day starts 30 minutes before the student bell schedule and concludes 30 minutes after the student day ends at the work location
Salary:            2024-25 OEA Salary Schedule A* (Includes Base contract and a Professional Responsibility & Enrichment Supplemental Contract (PRESC), at minimum) 
                       *This Position will be paid at the 2025-26 OEA Salary Schedule

The district's healthcare benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Benefit eligible employees also qualify to optionally participate in deferred compensation/403B plans, dependent care flexible spending/health savings accounts, and additional life insurance and/or added long-term disability coverage through employee contributions.  Sick leave, vacation, personal leave, and any paid holidays are aligned with bargaining agreements by association, as listed on our website.
 
Other benefits include VEBA, which is a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) and serves as a way to contribute dollars on a pre-tax basis for out of pocket benefits costs, whether it be for medical, dental or vision premiums, or any other out of pocket medical expenses. This benefit is available, based on the outcome of annual voting of employees by group.
