JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the Executive Director plans, organizes and directs the financial business for the school district, while promoting the overall effectiveness of the school system in conjunction with promoting the success of all students through efficient operations. The Executive Director oversees the development and implementation of the district’s business and financial services, including the budget and risk management program. This position performs such duties and supervises employees as are necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position. Additionally, this position is responsible for oversight of the areas of human resources, facilities management, nutrition services, transportation, safety and security, and technology while working with and providing leadership to each department’s director. The Executive Director serves on the Superintendent’s Cabinet and Leadership Team. The incumbent will perform other organizationally related tasks as directed by the Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Facilitates open discussions to keep stakeholders informed regarding budget-related items, providing transparent explanations of fiscal decisions and verifies a shared understanding of the district's financial priorities.
- Leads bargaining efforts in collaboration with Human Resources administration, emphasizing teamwork so that all parties feel heard, and that agreements reflect mutual understanding.
- Facilitates collaboration between staff, leadership, and the Teaching, Learning and Assessment Department, to identify and implement professional development programs that foster continuous improvement and support both individual and district-wide goals.
- Works closely with legal counsel to ensure all stakeholders are informed and supported, providing clear guidance on legal matters in a professional and approachable manner.
- Oversees facilities planning and coordination in collaboration with the Director of Facilities, leadership and relevant stakeholders, ensures alignment with the district’s long-term goals and needs.
- Facilitates collaborative discussions with key stakeholders (e.g., Superintendent, School Board, staff, students, community) on bond and levy measures, ensures clear communication and collective understanding of the need for district initiatives.
- Develops and leads capital facilities plans in conjunction with stakeholders, confirms that plans are implemented in a way that supports the district’s growth, long-term educational goals, and sustainability.
- Oversees construction projects by collaborating with contractors, staff, and stakeholders, including the Superintendent and School Board, to ensure that construction projects are completed on time, within budget and to district standards.
- Serves as a fair and impartial hearing officer, ensures that all involved parties are provided with opportunities for constructive feedback and promotes positive outcomes based on district policies.
- Collaborates with school leadership, staff and external partners to address potential threats, safeguards safety, and maintains the well-being of the school community through collective action.
- Serves as an active participant in various teams, including Cabinet and Leadership, contributes to decision-making and strategic planning.
- Performs other job-related duties as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration and five (5) years of progressively responsible related experience, or a master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or Public Administration and three (3) years of progressively responsible related experience, or, any combination of targeted job-related education and experience which provides the applicant with the requisite knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work and that meets applicable requirements of the position may be considered. Past public sector work experience in operations preferred.
REQUIRED LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The district is open to considering candidates with equivalent experience, relevant certifications, or other credentials such as a Superintendent or Principal Administrator Certificate. Prospective employees who are likely to have unsupervised access to children, disabled persons or vulnerable adults during the course of employment will undergo a background check clearance based on the laws declared by RCW Chapter 43.43.830. Must complete a Sexual Misconduct Disclosure process with results satisfactory to the district.
REPORTS TO: This position reports to and is evaluated by the district’s Superintendent.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands described within this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
This position requires concentration to detail. Incumbent will likely experience frequent interruptions, while still being required to meet inflexible deadlines. Must have precise control of fingers and hand movements. Will experience demands from a variety of situations and people, including students, parents, community, and staff. Will deal with angry or distraught people from time to time. Frequent focus on a computer screen for extended periods of time will occur. Sitting, walking, bending, twisting and standing are part of the daily physical functions of the job. Lifting up to 15 pounds and/or transferring weighted items to equipment for transport occurs occasionally. Will be required to attend evening meetings or activities. Some meetings may fall on the weekend. Will be required to operate a motor vehicle on public roads or find an alternative mode of transportation which supports the incumbent’s punctual attendance at district related activities.

Base Salary: Subject to Board approval, 2025-26 annual salary is anticipated to be $170,749 - $197,663 DOE
Professional Responsibility Stipend (PRS): 10 days at per diem (based on 218 days)
