Job Description:
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Part-Time Safety Coordinator. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of safety preparedness and emergency response at our charter school.
Key Responsibilities:
Drill Coordination: Plan, organize, and execute regular safety drills including fire drills, lockdown drills, and evacuation drills in accordance with state and local regulations.
Communication Plans: Develop and maintain effective communication plans to ensure timely dissemination of information in case of emergencies. This includes coordinating with staff, students, parents, and relevant stakeholders.
Safety Plans: Review, update, and implement comprehensive safety plans to address a wide range of potential emergencies, including natural disasters, medical emergencies, and security threats.
Professional Development: Redeliver safety-related professional development sessions for staff to ensure they are well-trained and prepared to respond effectively in emergency situations.
Safety Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of school facilities and equipment to identify and address potential safety hazards. Collaborate with facilities management to ensure a safe and secure environment for all occupants.
Emergency Response Coordination: Serve as the point of contact with local emergency services, coordinating response efforts and liaising with emergency services as necessary.
Maintain a calm and organized demeanor under pressure.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety drills, incidents, and training sessions. Prepare reports and assessments as required by regulatory agencies or school leadership.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
Willingness to learn about safety regulations and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Proficiency in Google Docs and other relevant software applications.
Willingness to get CPR and First Aid certification
