Early Interventionist/Early Childhood Teacher
Reports to: Director for Early Childhood Programs
Description: Individual needed to work as part of a Primary Service Provider Model, working with families to foster all aspects of their child’s development. Travel throughout Ottawa and Allegan counties required. Lifting, sitting on floor, stooping, crouching and bending also required. Driving one's own vehicle required (miles reimbursed).
Qualifications: Position requires valid Teaching certification with Early Childhood endorsement. Applicants not holding an Early Childhood endorsement may be considered if the candidate is eligible for temporary approval, working towards full approval. Experience working with young children (0-3) and their families is desired. A strong knowledge of childhood development and special education needed. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and home visiting is preferred.
Responsibilities Include: · Acts as a team leader for a multidisciplinary team. · Supports children, birth-3 years, in all areas of development. · Coaches families and/or caregivers in appropriate development · Conducts assessments, as appropriate, to determine eligibility for children 0-3 for Early On. · Knowledgeable about Special Education rules and educational eligibility areas. · Prepares and submits Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) and associated paperwork in a timely manner. · Develops Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) and participates in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings. · Acts as a liaison with local school districts to transition children to programs or services at age 3. · Works with a multidisciplinary team to conduct parent/child playgroups. · Provides services in the family’s home and/or child care setting.· Keeps detailed records, as required for the position. · Provides services according to a year-round, flexible calendar. · Works as part of a Primary Service Provider Model team in which the employee is required to work on all aspects of a child’s development and utilize the multidisciplinary team members for support and guidance. · Is flexible with respect to daily work schedule in order to meet legal guidelines/timelines and the family’s needs.
Job Type: Regular Schedule: Full Time/balanced calendar (195 days)
Compensation: Per OAEA contract $52,560 and up, taking into account the candidate’s relevant qualifications and experience.
