    DEFINITION:  This position functions to provide assistance to the principals in all assigned activities with primary responsibility in the area of discipline and attendance.  This position is directly responsible to the Superintendent with input from site administrators.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Performance of these functions is the reason the job exists.  Assigned job tasks/duties are not limited to the essential functions).  

     
    • Monitor student behavior in compliance with Mineral County School District policies and regulations, Pupil/Personnel Services student regulations, appropriate student activities procedures, Nevada school Law and site Student Code of Conduct handbook.

    • Assists the administrative team in leading a diverse staff, student body, and the community in development and implementation of building level goals focused on the improvement of student learning

    • Assists the administrative team in establishing building level priorities in the context of community and District priorities and student/staff needs.

    • Assists the administrative team with improving school outcomes and implementing initiatives to accomplish sustainable results by adopting various approached and engaging a variety of stakeholders to support school & District goals.

    • Assists with the supervision and evaluation process for certified staff in alignment with Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF) Evaluation system as needed.

    • Conducts frequent classroom observations with actionable conversations in alignment with NEPF Standards and Indicators and Professional Responsibilities Standards to promote reflection and growth.

    • Engages in professional, respectful, transparent and honest communication and interactions with all stakeholders.

    • Assists the administrative team in providing and/or facilitating training of staff with regards to the most effective practices which lead to higher student achievement regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or prior academic achievement.

    • Analyze and interpret school level data; works with staff to develop school performance plans that improve student academic growth and ensures the alignment of the curriculum, instruction and assessment to promote continuous school improvement.

    • Interpret and implement Mineral County School District policies and regulations, statutes, laws and collective bargaining agreements,

    • Assists the Administrative team in leading staff development and implementation of site and District goals relating to cultural competency and student learning.

    • Assists that Administrative team in establishing a school climate that promotes equal opportunities for all students, positive conduct and positive attitudes and values.  Accepts responsibility for attendance, conduct, health and safety of all students.

    • Identify students for and make referrals to appropriate community agencies.

    • Work and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, law enforcement agencies and social welfare agencies.

    • Assists the administrative team in implementing and evaluating the district’s extracurricular programs, including reporting of the student learning and development.

    • Provides effective communication with all stakeholders; collaborates and resolved conflicts with others, understanding and sensitive to the needs of students/staff with handicapping conditions.

    • Assists the administrative team with developing and implementing structures and processes to promote teacher discourse and collaboration.

    • Assists the administrative team with managing the condition of the physical assets, including the neatness and cleanliness of the buildings and grounds, safety, security and state of maintenance and repair of the buildings, grounds, furnishings, and equipment, except to the extent that responsibility has been assigned to another department.

    • Works cooperatively with all administrators, advises them of progress, problems and other information regarding their sites.

    Applicant must be able to withstand a State of Nevada law enforcement background check.

    •  Possess excellent communication skills, as they regularly interact with not only students, but also school administrators and parents on a regular basis.

    • They need to be professional and organized, and interact well with all stakeholders

    • Working in various computer programs/technologies to enhance instruction and manage building functions.

    • Philosophy, curriculum and instruction to include understanding of a culturally responsive instructional process and a variety of instructional techniques, as well as commitment to the improvement of instructional programs.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

     

    Required

     

    Master’s Degree in Education

     

    Nevada Administrative licensure endorsement

     

    5 years’ experience in teaching and/or administration

     

    Preferred

     

    Bilingual


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

     

    The physical and mental requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 

     

    Strength, dexterity, coordination, and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.  Strength and stamina to bend, stoop, sit, and stand for long periods of time.  Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of files, stacks of paper or reports, references, and other materials.  Some reaching for items above and below desk level.  Some reaching, bending, squatting, and stooping to access files and records is necessary.  The manual dexterity and cognitive ability to operate a personal computer using word processing and databases.  Involves hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.  Light lifting (up to 25 pounds) is occasionally required.

    Work is performed under the following conditions. 

     

    Exposure to climate controlled classroom settings to outside weather with temperatures ranging from mild/moderate to extreme cold/heat.  May involve exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud and occasional to frequent time periods.  May involve work in crowded environments.  

     

    Hazards: Classroom furniture, playground/office equipment, communicable diseases, chemicals (as related to specific assignment), and power/hand operated equipment and machinery (as related to specific assignment).

     

    Blood-Borne Pathogens:  An encounter with blood or other bodily fluids may occur in this line of work.  You will be expected to know and follow the safety steps in the safety training provided annually.
