Per Diem Transportation Aide- Various Locations
(Pending availability of funds and Board of Education approval)
The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the aforementioned position.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. First Aid and CPR trained or willing to be trained (preferred).
3. Experience with student management (preferred).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Per Diem Transportation Aides, under the direction and guidance of the Office of Pupil Transportation, are to ensure students safely and efficiently get to school using shuttle services.
1. During morning shuttle services:
- With the help of teacher aides and security staff, manage students as they arrive to Central Hub shuttle locations.
- Take attendance of all students as they arrive.
- Ensure students are following their signed Student Contract.
- Ensure students board the correct bus.
- Ensure late students are processed according to the “End of Day” policy.
- Ensure the attendance sheet is handed off to the appropriate bus aide.
2. During afternoon shuttle services:
- Receive the bus aide’s attendance sheet.
- Ensure students safely begin their walk home from the Central Hub location.
- Ensure students who need to wait for a parent are picked up.
- Ensure parents who are tardy are given a warning per the “End of Day” policy.
- Log attendance information.
3. Model appropriate behavior for the students.
4. Responsible for health and safety of students.
5. Assist in filing accident reports and incident reports in a timely manner.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

SALARY TERM & AFFILITION Salary: $15.00/hour
Employment Period: Ten (10) months
Union Affiliation: Newark Teachers Union (NTU)
