CPR and First Aid Certified. Valid driver’s license for district-wide travel. Integrity; good judgment and decision-making abilities, problem-solving skills, exercise clinical autonomy, and organizational and planning skills.
 
Both full-day and half-day positions are available, and the best part is that we can accommodate YOUR availability.

Summary
The School Psychologist provides psychological services to students, and supports families within the school district. This position involves conducting psychoeducational assessments, providing counseling services, and supporting educational teams in creating and implementing strategies that foster academic success, emotional well-being, and positive behavior. The School Psychologist collaborates with teachers, administrators, parents, and other professionals to ensure the mental health needs of students are met.
Essential Functions

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
• Psychological Assessments: Conduct psycho-educational evaluations to assess students’ cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Use a variety of assessment tools and methods to identify students' needs and areas of support.
• Individual and Group Counseling: Provide individual and group counseling services to students, helping them manage emotional and behavioral difficulties and improve their academic performance.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other professionals to develop and implement strategies and interventions that support students' social, emotional, and academic growth.
• Consultation: Consult with parents, staff, and administrators to address students' mental health, behavioral, and learning needs. Provide recommendations for accommodations and interventions.
• Crisis Intervention: Under the direction of administration, provide immediate support and intervention for students in crisis, including suicide prevention, trauma response, and conflict resolution.
• Behavioral Intervention Plans: Under the direction of administration, develop, implement, and/or monitor individual and group behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) to address specific student needs and improve classroom behavior.
• Professional Development: Provide professional development to staff and parents on topics such as mental health, behavioral strategies, and creating inclusive educational environments.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of evaluations, meetings, and interventions. Prepare written reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
• Compliance: In consultation with the director of student services, ensure that psychological services are in compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as district policies and procedures.
 
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree or higher in School Psychology or closely related field. Prior experience working as a school psychologist, preferably in a K-12 setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.  Valid state certification as a School Psychologist or eligibility for certification and current license. NH DOE Certification per Ed 508.02 School Psychologist. Preferred: Experience working within school settings. Demonstrated commitment to a collaborative team approach.
 
Knowledge, Ability, Skill
 
Knowledge: Knowledge of best practices of principles associated with social work. Knowledge and awareness of school age developmental, intellectual, and social issues. Knowledge of federal, state, and local resources and regulations pertaining to programs. Working knowledge of department operations and functions.  Strong understanding of children’s developmental needs and impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Knowledge of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) models, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) frameworks.
 
Ability:  Ability to listen, observe and interact in a positive and effective manner with people at all levels of society. Ability to deal tactfully, patiently, and appropriately with students. Ability to remain calm, concentrate and perform all responsibilities in a competent manner at all times. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a prompt and efficient manner. Ability to react quickly and calmly in urgent situations. Ability to work independently.
 
Skills:   Strong knowledge of psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment strategies. Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of special education laws, Section 504, and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations. Familiarity with various therapeutic techniques and interventions for children and adolescents.
 
 
Supervision
Received: The Building Administrator is the direct supervisor, while the School Psychologist also works under the direction of the Director of Special Education.
Exercised: None.
Responsibility: Performs varied and responsible duties requiring a thorough knowledge of departmental operations and the exercise of considerable judgment to independently complete assigned tasks, and to analyze the facts or circumstances surrounding individual problems in situations not clearly defined by precedent or established procedures.
 

 
Job Environment
• Accurately document all service delivery, including detailed Medicaid documentation, in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Ensure timely and thorough recording of all relevant information regarding services provided to students, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to standards for proper billing and reimbursement processes.
• Work is performed under typical office conditions; some work is outside of the office with home or community visits. The work environment is moderately noisy.
• Operates computer, printer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine, and other standard office equipment.
• Contacts are by phone, through correspondence, and in person; they generally consist of an information exchange dialogue, discussing routine and semi-complex issues.
• Makes frequent contact with school department staff, students, parents, and various outside agencies, organizations, and providers.
• Employee has access to confidential information related to assignments.
• Under the direction of administration, the employee may be involved with important decisions that may have administrative, legal and/or financial implications.
• The School Psychologist may be required to participate in after-school activities or meetings as needed.
• Regular travel between school sites within the district may be required.

This position requires the ability to operate a keyboard and calculator at an efficient speed.Additionally, the employee must be proficient in de-escalation, blocking, and deflection techniques to ensure the safety of both students and themselves while effectively managing challenging situations and maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
