Primary Function:  To compensate time spent on writing integrated curriculum and for attending professional development that is beyond contracted hours for Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP).

Primary Function:  The Theme Coach acts as a consultant, resource person, curriculum coordinator to support the work of teachers, enrich their professional development, support their relationships with families, and manage all aspects of student assessment, program evaluation and Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) evaluation.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement professional development workshops and seminars for all staff based on data and evaluation.
2. Work with staff to analyze student data and develop instructional plans to address students’ developmental needs.
3. Work with teachers to document student work using a variety of different modalities.
4. Work with teachers to strengthen their ability to differentiate instruction.
5. Work directly with teachers in classrooms to implement highly effective and proven instructional
   practices.
6. Integrate technology into instructional practices and professional development to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
7. Stay abreast of current educational trends, research, and best practices in magnet themes and instructional strategies, and incorporate them into coaching and professional development activities.
8. Assist in promoting the magnet program within the school community and beyond through various
   outreach activities and events.
9. Provide support and mentorship to new teachers to help them acclimate and excel in their roles.
10. Serve on the school’s Magnet Leadership Team and provide expertise on all matters related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
11. Communicate with parents when necessary and facilitate meetings for parents on curriculum and
    instructional issues and topics.
12. Participate in regional curriculum activities upon request.
13. Organize and plan field trips to support curriculum and instruction.
14. Complete all state and federal applications, paperwork, reports, and forms to meet the requirements for CSDE, USDOE, and other evaluations.
15. Perform other tasks as appropriately assigned by the Director of Magnet Pathways, K-12
 
Required Qualifications:
• Strong background, interest and experience with the school’s magnet theme
• Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience, with Masters’ Degree.
• Strong background in curriculum, assessment, and program evaluation.
• Experience working with culturally, socially and economically diverse student/family populations.
• Experience in the development and delivery of theme-based instruction.
• Experience in developing and implementing desegregation strategies and activities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with adult learners; and Experience in staff training and coaching.
