New Fairfield Public Schools seeks an energetic, highly motivated, and dynamic individual for the role of middle school science teacher. The ideal candidate will bring to the position a depth and breadth of science content knowledge, a deep understanding of how students learn, instructional practices that foster student engagement, skill in using curriculum as a tool for teaching and learning, and an ability to build a positive learning environment in which all students can thrive. GENERAL DUTIES:
• Establish a positive learning environment that fosters student engagement, independence, and interdependence. 
• Implement NFPS science curriculum, aligned to NGSS Standards, through the use of highly-effective instructional strategies and inquiry approaches.
• Provide instructional support and differentiation of instruction for all students.
• Use effective strategies to ensure student engagement, monitor student progress, and adjust instruction.
• Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and improve student learning and growth.
• Engage in professional self-reflection and seek feedback to enhance professional practice and student learning outcomes.
• Collaborate with colleagues, curriculum specialists, and administrators in professional learning and discourse to support the collective growth of the school and district.
• Consistently demonstrate professional responsibility and the highest ethical standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Appropriate Connecticut Science teaching certification (Grades 7-12).
• Knowledge of NGSS Standards and effective phenomenon-based inquiry approaches.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
• Understanding of a range of student needs and implications for teaching and learning.
• Ability to use student data to inform instruction.
• Strong organizational and communication skills to foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administration to foster the growth of students, the school, and the district.

POSITION TO START: School Year 2025-26
