PRIMARY DUTIES
The Parking Enforcement Specialist enforces the City’s parking laws and ordinances and NH State statutes related to parking. Patrols assigned route(s) for parking infractions and issues citations as appropriate. Position also issues meter violations throughout the City and reports faulty meters and other parking-related maintenance to Parking Operations personnel. Position serves as a central information point for citizens, answering questions regarding public parking issues, as well as general information about the City Of Nashua. 

QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a high school diploma or certified equivalent and knowledge of Nashua ordinances and State statutes in relation to parking violations. Must be familiar with Nashua streets. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.  Ability to achieve and maintain certification in First Aid and CPR is required. Ability to perform in a courteous and professional manner in all situations, including difficult interactions with the public.

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Parking Enforcement Specialist enforces the City’s laws and ordinances and NH State statutes related to parking.  The individual must establish and maintain working relationships with other City employees, law enforcement officers, businesses, residents, and visitors, and provide information to citizens and visitors regarding public parking and general information about the City. Responsibilities include patrolling assigned route(s) for parking infractions such as corner violations, stop signs, fire hydrants, fire lanes, handicap parking, left wheel to curb, obstructing traffic, etc. and issues citations as appropriate, issues Meter Violations throughout the City (primary daytime focus is on downtown municipal lots, garages, and on-street meters and primary overnight focus is on on-street overnight parking ban), responds to citizens’ questions, parking complaints/issues in person and by telephone and diffuses situations in a courteous and timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a full-time position, with a varying work schedule, is part of the UAW Clerical & Technical Unit, and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is grade 9, with an hourly wage not to exceed $22.7158.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
• High school graduate or its certified equivalent
• Considerable knowledge of the geographical layout of the City of Nashua to include streets, major building complexes and malls, business locations, and City-operated parking facilities
• Must have a thorough knowledge of City and State parking laws
• Ability to perform without bias in a courteous and professional manner in all situations, including those in which individuals may be hostile or angry
• Ability to determine and record important, relevant details; communicate effectively in oral and written form
• Ability to achieve and maintain certification in First Aid and CPR
• Must possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License
