Overview:
The Director of Secondary Education serves as an integral part of the administrative team and is responsible for providing curricular leadership across subject areas under his/her direction. The Director is instrumental in leading implementation of the district’s focus on student achievement, student growth and student well-being and is committed to the district statement of purpose: To create a culture of accountability that achieves the best academic and developmental outcomes for each student.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
1. Provides leadership in the development, implementation and administration of a progressive secondary educational program including school improvement goals, building management, master schedule development and budget.
2. Collaborates with the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, the Director of Elementary Education, the Director of Assessment and Accountability, the Director of Special Education, and the Director of Technology to ensure a consistent preK-12 flow of educational experiences.
3. Provides leadership for the assessment of current instructional practices and curriculum and makes recommendations for improvement in secondary educational programs.
4. Assumes a leadership role in secondary curriculum planning, implementation of state/national standards and development, selection, and/or implementation of related materials or resources.
5. Oversees the gifted education program in the Middle School and High School; supervises Gifted Intervention Specialists; prepares compliance reports for the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
6. Analyzes student performance data to improve secondary programs and academic achievement.
7. Assists in the coordination of and evaluation of professional development experiences for secondary administrators, certified/licensed staff and non-teaching personnel to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum.
8. Assists secondary building administration in matters pertaining to the entire secondary educational program.
9. Participates in professional development specific to leadership and secondary teaching and learning.
10. Evaluates staff performance including but not limited to secondary principals, secondary teachers on special assignment, and department personnel using the appropriate evaluation system for each classification. 
11. Assists Human Resources with hiring and evaluation practices relating to secondary education including classified, exempt, certified/licensed personnel and administrators to support and/or improve upon instruction, operations and professional growth.  
12. Coordinates all College Credit Plus, Dual Enrollment and/or Post-Secondary Education programs with institutions of higher education. 
13. Coordinates, oversees and evaluates the success of the career and technical education satellite programs at the middle school and high school.  
14. Performs all other tasks/duties and assumes such responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.  

Key Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree or higher.
2. Eight years or more successful experience in education with at least five years administrative experience at the building level or higher in some of the following areas:
   1. Curriculum
   2. Assessment
   3. Instruction
   4. Data Analysis
   5. Research
   6. Staff Development
   7. Human Resources
   8. Planning
3. Valid Ohio License/Certificate as an Administrative Specialist or Superintendent, or ability to obtain such.
4. Ohio Teacher and Principal Evaluation System Credentials or ability to obtain such.

1. Ability to research and disseminate pertinent information relevant to secondary education initiatives.

3. Is knowledgeable of the variety of data available in all secondary programs and analyzes such to improve secondary programs and academic achievement. 
4. Attends Board meetings and prepares reports for the Board as requested by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
5. Formulates proposals for revision and development of Board policies related to secondary education.
6. Reviews, approves and monitors all program-related research activities conducted at the middle and high school levels by university and other educational agency personnel.
7. Manages standing and ad hoc study committees upon request.
8. Contributes to public information documents as requested.
9. Strong observational, planning, organizational, problem solving and prioritization skills. 
10. Technologically literate and adaptable.
11. Ability to adjust and adapt to meet deadlines.

Overview:
Under the direction of the Director of Special Education and working in cooperation with appropriate district supervisors, teachers, parents and students, the occupational therapist (OT) shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students requiring school based occupational therapy services, helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum.
 
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess, screen, and evaluate students through the Evaluation Team Report (ETR) process and effectively share results with parents and educational staff, and participate in the eligibility determination process in accordance with state and school division requirements and best practice
• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) goals and objectives related to OT for qualifying students on an annual basis or according to requirements
• Plans, implements, and monitors activities that allow students to access and benefit from their specialized instruction. The focus of these services includes, but is not limited to academic performance, fine and gross motor functioning, positioning, daily living skills, play/leisure skills, work skills, and sensory-motor activities. 
• Assesses and makes environmental and other adaptations to allow students to access and benefit from their program of specialized instruction.
• Provides training to special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and others as appropriate, in carrying out day-to-day activities designed to enhance the student’s physical, motor, and sensory functioning.
• Maintains an inventory of District OT assistive equipment. 
• Consults with school staff, administration, and parents in improving students’ motor and sensory-motor functioning.
• Collaborates with school staff and/or parents in developing, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining occupational therapy interventions.
• Consults and collaborates with medical and other community providers, as appropriate.
• Coordinates the delivery of occupational therapy services with classroom teachers, special education staff and other providers to ensure continuity and consistency in providing comprehensive special education services to students.
• Assesses the motor, visual-motor and sensory-motor functioning of students referred for special education evaluation. Helps determine the need for occupational therapy services.
• Maintains an accurate record of therapy sessions, consultations, and other pertinent activities.
• Attends training sessions, conferences, seminars, department, and district meetings.
• Serves on District committees, task forces, work groups, etc., as requested.
• Keeps abreast of changing developments, trends, instructional and educational technologies. 

Key Qualifications:
• Valid ODEW certification with appropriate licenses
