Primary Purpose:
To assist a student who requires a service dog as part of their support plan by ensuring safe, appropriate, integration of the service dog in the school environment and supporting the student’s access to education, mobility, and daily functioning.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
Valid Texas educational aide certificate (can apply after hiring)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Comfort and familiarity working around animals, especially dogs
Ability to follow health, safety, and legal guidelines related to service animals in public schools
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well with children
Experience:
Experience with or willingness to learn about service animals
Experience working with children and may be work in church related schools, day camps, youth groups, private
schools, licensed day-care centers, or similar experience.
Work Schedule: 187 days
Salary: Pay Grade 2-Clerical/Paraprofessional Hiring Schedule
