PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provides coaching, professional development, and supplemental support to classroom teachers serving English Language Learners (ELL). Evaluate the performance of classroom teachers serving English language learners. Assist the Supervisor of Emergent Bilingual (EB) programs with the support and implementation of the PK-12 ESL programs and Dual Language one-way immersion initiatives of the district.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Work collaboratively with assigned classroom teachers to establish realistic and measurable objectives related to both the teacher’s individual professional development and student learning.
2. Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem solving.
3. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom.
4. Evaluate teacher effectiveness in accordance with established district programs.
5. Plan and provide appropriate staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff.
6. Supporting teachers in the design of units and lessons for the development of their yearlong curriculum
7. Provides coaching and expertise in the best practices for successful language acquisition, specifically in the four language domain areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
8. Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
9. Develop curricular or behavioral support materials as needed.
10. Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in the area assigned.
11. Monitor fidelity to the curriculum in all assigned teacher classrooms; have critical, yet positive, conversations with teachers who are not following the curriculum; report repeated issues to the supervisor.
12. Create a Reading Academy Biliteracy Tracking system
13. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
14. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
15. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.
Essential Functions:
• Safely drives a school bus on days when school is in session over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, loading and unloading students at designated locations.
• Transports students, teachers and others on school field or activity trips.
• Inspects assigned bus on a daily basis prior to transporting of passengers to ensure that bus is in good, clean and safe working order.
• Cleans and refuels bus as needed.
• Ensures that a communication device is in proper working order before each trip.
• Reports all mechanical deficiencies, traffic violations, or accidents, promptly.
• Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change); transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.
• Maintains order and discipline in an effective and courteous manner among students being transported in accordance with district policies and procedures; reports any incidents involving student discipline.
• Observes and tracks route timing, such as total time en-route, time between stops, loading and unloading times or any other requested information for the purpose of establishing route efficiency, as requested.
• Maintains and submits records and reports as required.
• Follows procedures to ensure that no child is left alone on bus without adult supervision at any time, and that all children have departed bus at the end of all bus routes (morning, evening and during field trips or other special trips).
• Inventories bus emergency and first aid supplies and equipment; reports needs to the Director.
• Prepares aides and children for bus drills and ensures bus evacuation drills are held as required.
• In case of accidents/emergencies, evacuates children according to written and practiced procedures, ensures that medical emergency procedures are followed; completes a written report as required.
• Attends and participates in trainings, and other continuing education, career and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications Profile

Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is an entry level position in the Transportation Department. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1.Assist the teacher in presenting instructional materials
2.Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments of work assignments
3. Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
4. Help meet the individual needs of the students, including transferring them to and from wheelchairs, lifting and positioning them, and signing or interpreting instructions for them
5. Help students take care of physical needs and personal care including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene
6. Help manage the behavior of assigned students; this includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or student behavior as needed
7. Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs
8. Work with assigned students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by teacher
9. Assist assigned students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom; this includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty
10. Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned students
11. Participate in professional development programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned

13. Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations
14. Adhere to the district’s safety policies and procedures
15. Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing; reaching; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer terminal possible; occasional district-wide travel; occasional state-wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; possible biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus; frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or over) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint; assisting non-ambulatory students and lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment; exposure to sun, heat, cold and inclement weather; exposure to noise.

7.       Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including 
          transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning

9.       Provide  personal  care  to  include  diapering  and  other  essential  needs,  medical  
          care,  and feeding of students as stated in IEP

11.       Assist in supervising students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom; this
