QUALIFICATIONS:
Able to apply for New Jersey Certificate as Teacher of Technical Occupations: Radio and/or TV Broadcasting Technology.
Demonstrated knowledge of Television, Broadcasting & Media Communication and effective instructional methods.
Minimum of four (4) years of successful industry experience.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find acceptable and appropriate.
REPORTS TO: Academy Administrator/Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
The Television/Broadcasting Teacher will teach six classes while serving as a consultant to any district employee or group on any topic connected with instructional television; secure, evaluate, and recommend appropriate program materials for closed circuit broadcast within the district; recommend topics, formats, and production schemes for locally produced instructional television materials; supervise and coordinate the production of all instructional television programs originating in the district; and provide teachers with appropriate guides and printed materials pertaining to programs broadcast within the district.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month contractual position
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually in writing by the Academy Administrator/Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Instruct in all aspects of the T.V. production industry, including film, video, and photographic arts.
2. Instruct students in the operation of cameras, lighting and editing equipment, as well as script writing.
3. Ability to use technology as a means to enhance student learning.
4. Teach hands-on skills used within the T.V. production industry.
5. Teach the health and safety practices of the T.V. production industry.
6. Introduce students to related office technology industry occupations.
7. Assist with planning and preparation of productions, relaying instructions from the control room to the studio floor and checking that equipment is in working order.
8. Participate in team meetings and in curriculum group meetings on a weekly basis.
9. Previews, evaluates, and recommends public broadcasts for inclusion in the district’s television schedule.
10. Prepares the district’s schedule of television broadcasts.
11. Works cooperatively with the audio-visual manager toward the full utilization and coordination of instructional media.
12. Perform other related duties as requested by the immediate supervisor, Superintendent of Schools or his designee.
