    What you will be doing:

     
    • Assists Director in managing all department activities toward goal achievement and development of action plans to address improvements required to reach stated goals.
    • Responsible for menu development for all applicable Child Nutrition Programs; conforming to department, district, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), state, and federal guidelines. Insures compliance at all times. Oversees development and manages processes for new product testing.
    • Oversees the complete and accurate nutritional analysis including record retention per department, district, USDA, state and federal guidelines. Insures compliance at all times.
    • Provides technical expertise to internal and external customers through regular monitoring of food service standards, including innovative strategies for improvement, technological advancements, identification, and implementation of healthy products.
    • Completes cost analysis for all menus to assist in budget development and management.
    • Collaborates with Director for best utilization of USDA commodities.
    • Oversight of procurement processes including bids, RFPs, contract renewals and extensions.
    • Ensuring compliance with procurement regulations, cost effectiveness and organizational goals.
    • Acts as a liaison for all special programs as requested and develops and maintains menus and recipes required by these programs.
    • Administer the nutrition service software for the department and ensures database is updated at all times.
    • Plans, develops and implements monthly promotions throughout the district.
    • Visits schools frequently to review production records, service standards, and assists with training as needed.
    • Manages diet plans for students with food allergies and ensures that staff at schools follow the menu restrictions that physicians have set for these students. Research and conduct analysis to find foods that are appropriate to the menu plan.
    • Assists with implementation of decisions, policies, procedures, and systems that comply with federal, state, local and district directives.
    • Coordinate, facilitate and/or serve on a variety of committees both within the department and in the district.
    • Oversight of LPS Central Production Kitchen including the planning and implementation of the site.
    • Oversight of LPS Warehouse. 
     

    Who we are looking for:

     
    • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required
    • BS/BA in Food Science & Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Service Management, or an Associate's degree with an academic major or area of concentration in Food and Nutrition, Food Service Management, Culinary Arts or Business and at least 1 year of relevant work experience preferred
    • Supervisory experience (minimum of 3 years preferred)
    • Administrative experience in food service (minimum of 3 years preferred)
    • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with others
    • Dependable, organized and a team player
    • Passionate about developing team members and leadership (previous training experience preferred)
    • Knowledge of: School meal programs, food safety, food service software, nutrition education, nutrition education, food service operations, personnel management, Google and Microsoft suites


    Salary Range: Minimum of $70,642    Midpoint $93,214
    253 days per year
    Exempt position
