  •   Ledyard Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Art Teacher for Gales Ferry School and Juliet W. Long School beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the School Administrator to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills.

    Responsibilities:
    • Encourage each student to develop an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines.
    •  Promote and develop talents of students in the field of art.
    Additional Duties: 
    • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other Administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
    Qualifications:
    • CT Certification (042) recommended/required but will consider other appropriate certification in the area of art
    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching elementary school students preferred
    • Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and parents
    • Success using a variety of teaching styles that facilitate independent and group learning activities
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work
    • Promotes a positive learning environment responsive to and respectful of the needs of students
    • Continues to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research
    • Enthusiasm for teaching and learning
    Salary and Benefits: Physical Requirements:
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
    • Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
