LEAP Academy University Charter School is seeking a highly qualified Teachers that will partner with the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Develops and administers elementary curriculum consistent with LEAP's district goals and objectives.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
Selects with Principal and Chief Academic Officer appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.

Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Chief Academic Officer.

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
Required NJ state teacher certification (New Jersey Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE) or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) or be eligible for reciprocity with an out-of-state certificate)
Experience and comfort working directly in an urban classroom setting

LEAP Academy University Charter School is seeking a Custodian to support the facility management of its four school building district. LEAP Academy takes great pride in the appearance of the building infrastructure as well as daily maintenance. The Custodian will report to the Director of Facilities to provide the school district with a physical environment that is safe, clean, attractive, pleasant, and smooth functioning. The Custodian will also support the academic activities, sports activities, community and non-community functions as regulated by the school district administration team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Custodian will assume the responsibility of securing the opening and closing of the all windows and doors when cleaning and maintaining all spaces.

Internal Building Maintenance

Responsible for dusting/waxing furniture, and equipment;
Responsible for maintaining building floors:
- Sweep, dust mop, wet mop floors in buildings and stairwells;
- Scrub & buff floors using floor machinery;
- Vacuum and extract carpets in main and office spaces;
Responsible for the cleanliness of restrooms and locker rooms throughout the day;
- Replacing tissue, paper towels, and air fresheners as necessary.
Ensure that all wastebaskets and recycling bins throughout the building are clean;
Clean and disinfect water fountains on a daily basis.
Wash windows – inside and outside;
Set up, move, and dismantle furniture, equipment, and portable instructional material and supplies;
Occasional painting of building spaces throughout;
Change lightbulbs as needed;
Ensure that all chalkboards are clean throughout the building classrooms;

External Building Maintenance

Maintain building exterior; constantly removing debris and clearing wastebaskets as needed;
Maintain the cleanliness of all wastebaskets outside of all buildings;
Change lightbulbs as needed;
Occasional painting of building external structures as needed;
Ensure snow removal during winter season;

School Function Support

Responsible for supporting school functions and events through setup/breakdown of furniture and equipment;

Inventory

Keep custodian carts and closets neat and clean and stocked with the proper supplies;

Education & Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent, with the ability to follow oral & written directions and/or instructions;
One-year prior custodial experience;
Knowledge of the basic principles of cleaning, safety and security;
Ability to analyze and scope job assignments in advance for equipment, supplies and manpower needs;
Must be flexible and be able to change scheduled shift assignments, adapt to continuous changes/demands of the job; or work overtime as necessary.

Physical Requirements and Occupational Exposure:

Regularly requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, repetitive wrist/hand movement, pushing/pulling for various lengths of time throughout the day;

Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength (lifting up to 25lbs) to accomplish the duties and responsibilities noted below;
Operation of heaving and technical cleaning and building operations equipment;
Climbing and working on roofs from ladders, lifts and scaffolding and in confided areas such as crawl spaces;
Constant exposure to chemicals;
Regularly works inside in areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuation in temperature;

LEAP Academy University Charter School is seeking highly qualified Education Safety Monitor - Part-time to monitor and protect the property against criminal activity and damage. They monitor the flow of students, employees and visitors and respond in emergency situations. In order to adequately protect people and property, safety monitor must know and enforce rules and regulations to prevent criminal activity before it happens. They may monitor points of access in a building or property to allow entry only to individuals with the correct identification or authorization. In some situations, such as public events or crowded areas, walk amongst visitors to promote order and provide a visible presence that deters safety issues.
After hours, maintain surveillance of a property by patrolling the grounds or using closed-circuit monitoring or alarm systems. Investigate and report signs of damage or unlawful entry as it occurs. Such issues require that they contact authorities and make written or verbal reports to law enforcement. In emergency situations, they may provide first aid or assistance and alert first responders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Acts as hallway monitor between classes to keep hallways clear.
Assists with monitoring student lunch periods.
Ensures uniform compliance by all students.
Provides assistance to administrators, teachers and staff to ensure students go to and from classes per school policy.
Reports any incidents involving students to Building Administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma (some college desired).
Five years’ experience in transportation operations.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates, builds and maintains schedules for bus routes for all students that attend LEAP Academy, maintaining contact with schools.
Coordinates, builds and maintain scheduled routes for students that attend LEAP.
Handles interviews of all bus drivers and bus aides with recommendation of employment being given to the Human Resource Office.
Supervises transportation staff, including full time bus drivers, substitute bus drivers, full-time bus aides, substitute bus aides, Assistant Transportation Coordinator and Transportation Secretaries, and Dispatcher
Completes annual evaluations for all Transportation Staff.
Attend the School Transportation Supervisors of New Jersey Pupil Transportation Conference.
Maintains communication radios in buses, mechanic shop, base radio in office and portable radio at personal residence. Portable radio must accompany you at all times when buses are on the road.
Coordinates with purchasing the specifications of the new buses when needed. When buses arrive, goes over specifications with head mechanic, to make sure the bus is exactly what the district ordered. Call insurance companies and bus communication company to have insurance and bus radio installed.
Changes, adds, deletes and implements new routes and coordinates existing routes for special education students to schools outside the district to keep transportation costs lower.
Transports drivers, picks up drivers, picks up buses and do whatever is necessary for drivers to have buses when breakdowns occur during the day, evening, night or on weekends.
Handles parent complaints, along with principals’, teachers’ and bus drivers’ concerns or problems with students.
Prepares and completes information for State District Report of Transported Resident Students, which shows each transported student, the mileage from their home to school, and the cost of each route as of October 15th of the current school year.
Responds to all bus accidents, completes state and county reports, contracts proper authorities regarding the accident, and files paperwork accordingly.
Evaluates new bus stops when needed as students enter the district. Observes bus stops for any concerns with traffic, crossing guards, or any other problems. Works with the police department regarding concerns with the public and school district.
Discusses personnel and professional matters with the Transportation Staff as needed.
Observes bus drivers doing their daily operations, such as following them, stopping and greeting buses at the schools, doing spot checks on buses, or riding with the bus drivers to observe performance.
Maintains contact with drivers, teachers, principals and School Safety and Security Coordinator on a daily basis for problems that arise with transportation during the day and during the after school programs.
Schedules and prepares buses for State of New Jersey inspections twice a year. Prepares and schedules state inspection for the band equipment bus for its yearly inspection at a local facility.
Approves or denies payment on invoices for the Transportation Department. Approves or denies repairs on buses with the mechanic.
Maintains attendance records of all bus drivers and bus aides.
Prepares transportation budget along with appropriate documentation.
Schedules bus driver substitutes as needed.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.
