    The Literacy Coach and PBIS Technical Assistance Coordinator is responsible for leading professional development, coaching educators, and supporting the implementation of a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) in school districts. This role integrates literacy instruction and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to improve educational outcomes through targeted training, curriculum design, data analysis, and district-level planning. The coordinator will collaborate with school personnel, develop educational programs, and provide ongoing technical assistance to advance instructional practices and behavioral interventions.

    Essential Functions
    Lead targeted professional development and coaching sessions for educators on instructional literacy strategies and PBIS/MTSS implementation.
    Provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to school districts to enhance literacy and behavior intervention strategies.
    Assist in lesson planning, curriculum alignment, assessment writing, and the integration of evidence-based literacy and behavioral support practices.
    Guide educators in the use of research-based teaching methodologies, effective behavior interventions, and data-driven instructional decision-making.
    Develop and facilitate webinars, workshops, online courses, and conferences focused on literacy instruction and PBIS best practices.
    Collaborate with district and school leadership teams to enhance data analysis, progress monitoring, and continuous improvement efforts.
    Support schools in the use of PBIS data systems to ensure fidelity and track behavioral and academic outcomes.
    Stay informed of statewide curriculum initiatives, policies, and best practices in literacy and behavioral interventions, incorporating updates into professional learning opportunities.
    Maintain open communication with district leaders, Regional Offices of Education (ROEs), and professional learning networks to drive instructional improvements.
    Participate in regional and national conferences, presenting research findings and disseminating best practices to stakeholders.
    Maintain ongoing, open communications with the Director of Educational Services.  
    Fulfill all duties and responsibilities as required under grants.
    Keeps records and data required by the State and the Regional Office of Education.
    Perform other duties as assigned. 
    Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required
    Strong background in literacy instruction and PBIS/MTSS frameworks.
    Excellent facilitation, coaching, and professional development skills.
    Ability to design and deliver training programs for educators in literacy and behavioral intervention.
    Strong analytical skills for interpreting assessment and intervention data to drive decision-making.
    High level of organization, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    Knowledge of educational technology tools that support literacy and behavior interventions.
    Ability to adapt communication and training methods to different audiences.
    Proficiency in Google Workspace and other digital platforms for training and collaboration.

    Education and/or Other Requirements:
    Bachelor’s degree in Education with emphasis in Literacy, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
    Master’s degree preferred from an accredited university with emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction, educational leadership, social work, psychology, or related field
    Illinois Professional Educator’s License with appropriate endorsements
    Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in literacy/ELA instruction and/or behavior intervention strategies
    Minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional coaching, professional development facilitation, or educational leadership roles
    Experience in school-wide improvement planning and working with district leadership teams
    Familiarity with PBIS implementation, behavior intervention plans, and data-based decision-making
    Experience training effective behavior interventions in a multi-tiered system, including school-wide, classroom, and individual student behavior intervention plans
    Supplemental Information
    Physical Requirements:

    Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    Ability to travel to school districts, regional education offices, and conference locations as required.
    Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
