Mechanic I Range 17.5 Step 1: $23.07 per hour
Mechanic II Range 20.5 Step 1: $25.61 per hour
Mechanic III Range 23.5 Step 1: $28.25 per hour
Mechanic IV Range 26.5 Step 1: $31.19 per hour
MAINTENANCE MECHANIC I
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic I, under direction of the supervisor or designee, is an entry level position of semi-skilled work experience involved in building maintenance and associated service activities. Work is usually performed under immediate supervision although work assignments that are repetitive in nature, once learned, can be carried out without difficulty under only general supervision. Assignments include the use of standard or specialized tools and occasional operation of light trucks or other equipment.
Qualifications: - Must possess a general mechanical or building construction background.
- Must be able to assist in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings and related equipment and able to perform tasks independently, follow oral and written direction, learn operating policies and procedures, comprehend written material and interpret and apply rules and instructions.
- Must be able to establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work.
- Must possess the potential and initiative to upgrade personal maintenance skills through on-the-job training or by other means.
- Capable of performing all work in a neat and professional manner.
- Must possess a valid State of Alaska motor vehicle operator’s license with no insurance restrictions.
- Ability to work well with public, students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to safely, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Responsibilities: - Perform tasks requiring general or specialized maintenance skills or techniques requiring some decision making, and the ability to work independently as required.
- Able to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, if necessary, during inclement weather conditions.
- Load and unload heavy material from trucks; move or aid in moving heavy boxes or equipment.
- Assist in grounds maintenance, roofing, and exterior building repair.
- Perform maintenance tasks within own specialty trade, or as assigned.
- Perform surface preparation and painting duties.
- Assist and perform under general supervision building maintenance tasks as directed.
- Upon occasion operate light vehicles.
- Perform maintenance duties within scope of position at village school locations as assigned.
- Supply own small hand tools as designated by supervisor necessary in performance of duties.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
- Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic II, under direction of the supervisor or designee, is a position of skilled manual work experience and some technical ability involved in building maintenance, construction, and associated service activities performing a wide variety of near journeyman level maintenance and construction duties in a combination of several trades or crafts. Work is usually performed with minimal supervision. Assignments frequently involve the use of specialized hand and electrical tools and operation of vehicles and equipment. Work of this class requires previous maintenance experience plus initiative and judgment to work without close supervision as necessary.
Qualifications: - Must possess a general mechanical or building construction background with a high skill level in a variety of the building trades.
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions, learn operating procedures and policies, comprehend written material and interpret and apply rules and instructions, establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work, function independently when required, convey information orally or in writing.
- Have a working knowledge of all applicable building and safety codes.
- Capable of performing all work in a neat and professional manner.

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC III
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic III, under the direction of the supervisor or designee, is an experienced position of skilled technical ability and supervisory work. Work performance covers a variety of skilled repair and construction tasks in a combination of several trades or skilled service areas. Assignments frequently involve the use of standard and specialized hand and electrical tools as well as sophisticated testing equipment. Responsibilities extend to supervision and training of lower level maintenance personnel in the execution of assigned duties.
Qualifications: - Must possess a general mechanical or building trade background with a journeyman level knowledge of at least one of the building trades.
- Must have the ability to competently and professionally construct, maintain, repair and improve buildings, structures, or related systems and equipment.
- Must have a working knowledge of the prevailing codes as well as hazards and safety precautions inherent with all work performed.
- Must have ability to interpret and follow blueprints, sketches, building specifications, codes and operating and maintenance.
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions, learn operating policies and procedures, comprehend written material and interpret and apply rules and instructions, establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work, function with a moderate level of independence, convey information orally or in writing, make accurate mathematical computations and instruct and supervise subordinates as directed.

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC IV
Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic IV, under the direction of the supervisor, is an experienced position of skilled technical ability and supervisory status over both subordinate maintenance personnel and assigned independent maintenance and systems operations and upkeep. Work performance involves the most complex tasks in the maintenance repair, and installation of electrical and mechanical equipment including power generation equipment, boilers, and associated control systems; electric systems including clock, public address and fire alarm systems, heat distribution systems, etc. Position frequently involves supervision and training of subordinates during the normal course of job assignments. Assignments frequently involve the use of standard and specialized hand and electrical tools as well as sophisticated testing equipment.
Qualifications:
1. Must posses a strong mechanical or building trade background with journeyman level knowledge of at least two of the building trades.
2. Must have the ability to compentently and professionaly construct, maintain, repair, and improve building structures or related systems or equipment.
3. Must have strong knowledge of the applicable building, fire, and safety codes as well as hazards and safety precautions inherent with all work performed.
4. Ability to interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, sketches, building specifications, codes and operating and maintenance manuals.
