• Participating in reflections/revisions regarding the Teacher/Administrator Effectiveness models

• Assisting with planning and implementing the ongoing teacher training, as needed

• Recommending revisions for submission to the MDOE
 
 Time Commitment:
 
• 1 day in Summer 2024 (planning)

• Two Steering Committee meetings during the school year (during the school day)

• Supporting staff members within your building (ongoing)

• Presenting to the school committee and /or staff, as needed

Full-Time Position
 
The Kittery School District is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Facilities Foreman to support the Facilities Director in maintaining the district’s schools and grounds. This is a full-time position, typically scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with some flexibility required for evenings and weekends as needed.
 
About the Position:
 
The Facilities Foreman plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency of all Kittery School District facilities, including Mitchell Primary School, Shapleigh School, and Traip Academy, as well as surrounding school grounds. The successful candidate will assist in overseeing maintenance operations, coordinating facility repairs, and supervising custodial and maintenance staff as needed.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
• Assist the Facilities Director in managing the daily operations of district buildings and grounds.
   

• Oversee and support custodial and maintenance staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
   

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs, including minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC system tasks.
   

• Coordinate preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of district facilities and equipment.
   

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, fire codes, and environmental standards.
   

• Monitor building security and emergency preparedness procedures.
   

• Respond to facility emergencies in a timely manner, including inclement weather situations (e.g., snow removal, storm preparation).
   

• Assist in managing work orders, vendor contracts, and supply inventory.
   

• Communicate effectively with district administration, staff, and external contractors.
   

• Support event setups and breakdowns, including school functions and community events held on school property.
 
• Fill in as needed in the absence of a custodian when a viable substitute is unavailable.
   
 
Qualifications & Skills:
 
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
   

• Effective communication skills to collaborate with staff, vendors, and administration.
   

• Prior supervisory or management experience in a facilities, maintenance, or custodial setting preferred.
   

• Experience with building systems, general maintenance, and custodial operations.
   

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
   

• Knowledge of OSHA, fire safety, and environmental regulations.
   

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
   

• Must possess or be willing to obtain any required state and local certifications.

• Positive, can-do attitude.
   

• Valid driver’s license required.
   
 
Physical Requirements:
 
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
   

• Capable of prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions.
   

• Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and rooftops when necessary.

The Kittery School District is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Outreach & Services Coordinator to serve students and staff across all three of our district schools. This unique role expands beyond the traditional scope of school counseling, focusing on broad-based responsibilities to support student success and well-being.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Addressing substance use and abuse concerns and providing related support.

Supporting homeless students and their families in compliance with the McKinney-Vento Act.

Delivering professional development to district staff on mental health topics.

Conducting family outreach and home visits for students at risk, with a focus on bridging the gap between home and school.

Tackling chronic absenteeism by developing and implementing intervention strategies.

Collaborating with district school counselors, providing both formal and informal consultation primarily on student mental health-related issues. 

Serving as a liaison between the district and community-based agencies to ensure students and families have access to necessary resources.

Qualifications:

Valid Maine Department of Education 075 certification or equivalent/related certification required.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Experience in addressing mental health, substance abuse, homelessness, and chronic absenteeism is highly desirable.

Ability to work effectively with students, families, staff, and community-based organizations.

Experience working in a school-based setting strongly preferred

Position Details:

Reports to the Director of Curriculum.

Engages in ongoing informal evaluation and receives an annual formal evaluation by the Director of Curriculum.

Serves all three district schools.

This is a school-year position based on the district’s 184-day collective bargaining agreement, with opportunities to work beyond the school year.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

The Kittery School District is currently seeking an Educational Technician II at Mitchell School. This position is through the end of the 24-25 school year only.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will have strong communication and interpersonal skills to be able to work with both staff and students effectively. They will need to be able to support students with disabilities in their classroom academically, behaviorally, and emotionally.

Required Certification:       CHRC & Maine DOE 660 endorsement and certified K-12 ESL

The Kittery School District is currently seeking a Part Time English to Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) teacher for the 2025/26 school year.  This position is at Shapleigh School (grades 4-8).
 
The ideal candidate for this position must hold a MAINE DOE 66o endorsement or be eligible for it(certified in K-12 in ESL).  Ability to speak Spanish is helpful, but not essential.
 
The candidate must be able to pass a background test through the State of Maine Education Department.
 
Responsibilities:
 
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for small group instruction

• Assess individual needs

• Facilitate ILAP meetings

• Collaborate with classroom teachers and grade level teams to coordinate services and provide support to students within the grade-level curriculum

• Communicate and engage with families, helping to create a school-to home relationship

• Travel between buildings

• Create district-wide ESOL services based on state-issued guidelines

• Conduct ACCESS testing
 
Requirements
 
• 660 Endorsement

• Shows understanding of the language acquisition process

• Coordinates the identification of English Learners (certified to administer the WIDA Screener)

• Sensitive to cultural backgrounds and identities
