The Monroe County School District (MCSD) is looking for a dynamic, highly qualified individual with strong leadership skills to take the helm as the Director of Food Services. This position is located in our Operations Annex on beautiful Stock Island and offers successful candidates the opportunity to work and live in a tropical paradise.
The essential function of the position within the organization is to direct the district’s Food Service Program functions in an effective and cost-efficient manner. The district-level school nutrition director oversees all aspects of the districtwide school nutrition program, develops and implements programs within organizational policies, and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports. This person performs a variety of job functions essential to the successful operation of the district’s school nutrition program. The job functions include food production and operations management; food security, sanitation, and safety; menu and nutrition management; program management and accountability; financial management; human resource management; facilities and equipment management; marketing and communication; procurement and inventory management; and technology and information systems.
The district-level school nutrition director partners with others in the school nutrition program, school district, and community to operate a sound nutrition assistance food program while following federal, state, and local guidelines. The school nutrition program is to provide an environment that supports healthy food habits of students while maintaining program integrity, fiscal accountability, and customer satisfaction.
Educational requirements include:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition or related area is required.
- Master’s degree in food and nutrition is preferred.
- Complete continuing yearly education training as per USDA Regulations.
- ServSafe certification preferred.
Experientially, the position requires:
- Requires four years of related experience.

Salary Range: $84,800-$115,300

- Initial step placement onto the salary schedule shall be at the beginning step unless the Superintendent deems: initial step schedule advanced placement appropriate - No higher than sixty percent (60%) of Board approved salary schedule. All other exceptions will require prior Board approval.
