PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Transportation Aide is to ensure the safety of the passengers health, physical or cognitive well being while being transported.
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Must ensure order and follow all regulations and rules of conduct when dealing with special needs students.
2. Supervises student activity and behavior. Make note of and report on any issue that arise with the student including but not limited to IEP related items and unusual occurrences .
3. Interact with parents, school staff and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner.
4. Attends training In-service as directed. May be asked to participate in additional training as needed based upon a student's need.
5. Assists students on and off the bus may include securing harness and/or seat belts.
6. Perform other related duties as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The Aide is required to have
Satisfactory criminal background report upon hire
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and assist students on and off the bus as needed and during vehicle evacuations.
Knowledge of vehicle safety for handicapped children
