POSITION: Elementary Math Specialist/ Coach
LOCATION: Gallaher Elementary
QUALIFICATIONS: - Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification
- Five or more years successful teaching experience
- Certification in Elementary teaching
- Evidence of strong working knowledge of mathematical pedagogy
- Evidence of leading math initiatives in previous positions
- Experience developing and delivering various professional development (i.e. seminars, workshops, facilitated work sessions, small groups, one on one coaching, and modeling lessons preferred
- Ability to collaborate with staff and administrators
- Ability to assess training needs and work with individual teachers or teams of teachers to provide support, coaching, and feedback through reflective dialogue
- Knowledge of the Math cirricula, pacing guides, and instructional materials
- Knowledge of strategies to increase student engagement
- Knowledge of the implementation of the Response to Intervention and the ability to communicate this process with staff
- Knowledge of instructional differentiation strategies
- Knowledge of Common Core and Data Driven Decision Making
- Familiarity with District initiatives
- Understand and can apply concepts of adult learning and motivation
- Experience with school improvement planning process
- Proficient in the use of instructional technology
- Demonstrated pursuit of on-going professional growth activities
- Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday
- Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance)
- Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students

RESPONSIBILITIES: - Teaches assigned students using the educational philosophy and policies adopted by the Board of Education to improve math achievement
- Provides one-on-one or small group diagnostic teaching of math for both onsite and virtual students at the discretion of the building administration
- Use best practices for coaching/modeling or observing in a formative way and providing feedback through reflective dialogue for teachers
- Analyze District, school level, grade level, and classroom data in order to identify strengths and weaknesses and plan targeted support to improve teacher quality and effectiveness
- Deliver professional development to teachers in relation to needs identified in data
- Provide coaching to teachers as needed on math practices and curricula as needed
- Collaborate with building administrators to establish coaching priorities and support school PD initiatives
- Collaborate with grade level teams in their Professional Learning Communities to review data and reflect on instruction
- Collaborate with Curriculum Specialists to stay abreast of District Curricular initiatives and/or changes
- Facilitate small group learning of new content, pedagogy, and instructional strategies
- Leads the Math MTSS process involving appropriate staff
- Assist administration with planning & implementing building level professional development as identified in the SSP
- Maintain accurate records of training activities and coaching sessions in an electronic system designated by the school
- Demonstrate model lessons
- Ability to attend state-wide content meetings
- Lead or facilitate lesson studies
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to establish school-wide policies and protocols regarding instruction and school climate
- Develop instructional resources for teachers that will support student achievement
- Broker resources to support professional growth
- Other duties as assigned
