    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher to join our team in a Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) classroom. This position will support students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities by providing individualized instruction, fostering a positive learning environment, and collaborating with staff and families.

     

    Location: St. James Middle School High School
    Position Type: Long-Term Substitute ASAP until at least December 19, 2024
    Hours: Full-Time

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     
    • Support and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in alignment with state standards and district goals.

    • Adapt and differentiate curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

    • Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that supports students' academic, social, and emotional growth.

    • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and other team members to ensure consistent student support.

    • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and assistive technology to maximize student success.

    • Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.

    • Communicate regularly with families to share student progress and provide updates.

     

    Qualifications:

     
    • Valid Minnesota teaching license in Special Education, with licensure in Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) or equivalent preferred.

    • Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities is highly desirable.

    • Strong understanding of behavior management strategies, assistive technology, and differentiated instruction is desirable.

    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
