Job Title: Maintenance Utility Worker

Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, assist other maintenance workers in construction, alterations, repairs and installation of fixtures, building equipment, and structures throughout the district. Assist in delivery of parts, equipment, and supplies to various district locations. Assist the set up for meetings and trainings, shredding of scheduled documents, clean up of various activities, moving and hauling furniture.

High School Diploma or G.E. D
Valid Texas driver's license
Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions
Special skills/ knowledge:
Ability to lift objects or equipment that may be heavy
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and rules
Ability to work independently
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist in the assembling prefabricated furniture.
2. Assist in the fabrication or repair, replace, doors, windows, ceiling materials, building hardware, glass, shelves and partitions.
3. Assist in repairs to sinks, commodes, faucets, water fountains, and un-stop drains.
4. Receive and complete work orders on a computer based program.
5. Maintain accurate records of time and materials used.
6. Inspect work upon completion and ensure areas are left clean of debris and the area is secure.
7. Work with coworkers to complete jobs assignments.
8. Assist fellow maintenance employees with repair or replacement of HVAC equipment including motor replacement, filter replacement, general maintenance on HVAC equipment, belt replacement, scheduled lubrication of motors and equipment.
9. Assist in performing preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
10. Respond to emergency calls as needed.
11. Other duties as assigned.

12. Operate tools in a safe and efficient manner and according to safety standards.
13. Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
14. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
15. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately

Equipment used:
Power saw, power drills, drill press, sanders, nail guns, ratchets, wrenches, air compressors, lifts, light truck, van, tractor, pressure washer, step ladder, extension ladder, dump trailer, water pump, shop vacuum, grinder, commercial shredder, computer, cellular phone, and other maintenance related equipment.

Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside.
