HOURS: Evenings & weekend shifts
SALARY RANGE: $20.42-$32.00/hr - depending on experience & skills

REQUIREMENTS: - Two year college or technical degree; a minimum of five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- EPA Certification 608 Universal Certification required for this position.
- Experience with Alerton controls preferred
- Must be willing to work night shifts and weekends. On call every other weekend.
- Must maintain a valid Driver’s License.
_________________________________________________________________________________ POSITION SUMMARY
To install, service and repair heating and air conditioning systems for the Hillsboro R-3 School District, ensuring that machines and building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. Ensures that school facilities adhere to School District, state and federal safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for the operation of the heating, air conditioning and boiler equipment, according to season, temperature and demand.
- Inspects and maintains District cooling equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, water coolers, window units and ice machines.
- Inspects and maintains HVAC equipment including exhaust fans, boilers and furnaces.
- Installs and maintains all kitchen equipment on School District property.
- Complies with all applicable federal, state, and School District standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures.
- Assists with the coordination of the District-wide effort to conserve energy.
- Assists in maintaining all electrical and lighting functions for School District buildings (i.e. light fixtures, switches, circuits, wiring, outlets, etc.).
- Assists in maintaining all plumbing operations in School District buildings, such as installation and repair of sinks, toilets, water fountains, faucets, etc.
- Performs general carpentry duty when assigned, such as building, installing and repairing bookshelves, cabinets, walls, flooring and ceiling tiles, etc.
- Welds/fabricates steel, aluminum, and stainless steel items for various district departs, such as chairs, signs, and other items.
- Installs and repairs building doors and windows, including glass, locks, and handles.
- Paints School District property as needed.
- Shovels, plows, and/or salts walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as directed.
- Maintains all snow removal equipment, including plows and trucks.
- Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment
- Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed. • Reports and properly documents any damage or misuse of school property to the Director of Building and Grounds and the Principal.
- Posts signs to caution students or faculty on wet floors or services temporarily out of order.
MARGINAL DUTIES
- Maintains work order schedules and assignments.
- Assists with receiving and storing supplies and equipment.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment and requisitions needed replacements from the Director of Buildings and Grounds far enough in advance that they may be delivered within required time frames. • Performs additional tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds and Principal.
- Know how to weld.

- This individual may be exposed to potentially hazardous bodily fluids.
