POSITION SUMMARY
To instruct students in individual or team sports and sport techniques.
 
            ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Plans programs to promote development of student’s physical attributes and social skills.
• Teaches individual and team sports to students, utilizing knowledge of sports techniques and physical capabilities of students.
• Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating and lecturing on sports topics.
• Explains and enforces safety rules and regulations governing sports and the use of exercise equipment.
• Observes students during practice to detect and correct mistakes.
• Explains score-keeping methods.
• Organizes and conducts competition and tournaments.
• Purchases, displays, maintains and repairs equipment.
• Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
• Maintains discipline  
• Recognizes students encountering medical, physical and/or psychological problems and refers them to district specialists for assistance as required.
• Communicates with parents effectively
• Promotes the program throughout the community
• Responds to media requests
• Maintains accurate records and historical statistical data
• Actively maintain relationships with college programs.         
MARGINAL DUTIES
• Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, mentor programs and teacher training workshops.
• Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
• Contributes to the decisions made by the District and building regarding budget, facilities, curriculum and personnel well-being.
• Performs additional tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach
• Manages budget of funds made available to the particular sport/program
EVALUATION AND JOB PERFORMANCE
• Coaches Evaluation – conducted by the Activities Director
 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervises 1 or more assistant coaches
• Students
 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited four-year College or University - preferred
• Missouri State Teaching Certificate – preferred
 PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.. 
 MENTAL DEMANDS
• Ability to maintain confidentiality; communicate clearly both orally and in writing
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
• Exposed to loud noise levels.  Regularly exposed to varying inclement outdoor weather conditions for outside activities.

Student Worker - Grass Mowing & Trimming
This position is for current Hillsboro Sr. High School students only.

Pay is $15.00/hr. 

Hillsboro School District is looking for 2-3 high school students to work part-time for the Maintenance Department.  Student workers would be responsible for mowing and trimming the grass across the entire district under the supervision of maintenance workers and Mr. Allison.  There will also be some light landscaping duties as needed.

Job Details:
Usually 20 hours/week, including afternoons and weekends as needed
Mowing season begins in April and goes through September
Must be 16 years or older
Must be in good standing with Hillsboro High School, grades, attendance & behavior
Must have transportation to/from school
Must wear steel-toed boots and eye protection
Must meet with Betsy Noack in Human Resources prior to starting.
Must be in attendance at school day on day of work.

Student Worker - Custodian Assistant
Assist with cleaning, moving furniture and other duties to aide the building custodian team

Student Worker - General Maintenance Assistant
Assisting maintenance with painting, plumbing, concrete, electrical, roofing repair, replacing HVAC filters, and grounds work such as mowing and trimming. These duties would be closely supervised by a full time maintenance staff member.
Students would be required to be properly task trained on equipment.

Must maintain good grades and good behavior.

Student Activity Worker
This position is for current Hillsboro Sr. High School students only.

Student Worker - Athletic/Activities - $13.25/hr.
Gate Worker:  Collect money for admission / hand out rosters
Announcer: Announce line-ups, plays, etc....
Bookkeeper: Keep track of plays/score and record in scorebooks
Track wrestling operator: Enter event information in track wrestling program as it happens on a Chrome book
Official Timer/Tapper: Stand at wrestling mat and tap the official to make them aware of the time.
Stat/Scoreboard: Operate board control to track fouls, points & time-outs
Clock: Operate board control to start / stop game clock
Runner: Misc. jobs - deliver papers, relieve workers for breaks, etc...
Chains (FB):  Hold and move field placement (down) markers on the sideline of the football field.
 
Student Worker - Concessions - $13.25/hr.
Assist with the concession stand needs by helping prepare food, wait on customers, collect money and clean as needed.

Must meet with Betsy Noack in Human Resources prior to starting.
Must maintain good grades, good behavior & good attendance.
