    • This is a full-time summer position working forty hours per week Monday - Thursday.  Hours could be adjusted during the summer.

    Job Title:      Summer Employee

    Supervisor:  Facilities Assistant Manager – Maintenance, Building Services, Inventory

    Terms of Employment:  Summer 2024

    Job Summary: 
    The Summer Employee performs a variety of routine work which may include the following semi-skilled work: roofing, painting, carpentry, paving, concrete, general plumbing, general electrical, general HVAC, stripping/waxing floors, general clean-up of different facilities, moving furniture, clerical duties.  Employee must adhere to HCS core values.

    Essential Duties – According to Assignment
     

     
    1. Perform general Building Services duties to assist with Summer Cleaning including but not limited to: moving furniture, pressure washing, window washing, and general Custodial functions such as, mopping, dusting, and damp wiping surfaces.
    2. Performs general maintenance duties to assist with tasks including but not limited to: installing cabinets and countertops, general interior and exterior repairs, fitting and installing doors and locks, repairing window and door framing, trimming shrubs/trees, shoveling, raking, installing or repairing steps, awnings, porches, ramps, fences, gates, baseboards, trim, walkways, hand rails, siding, floors, walls, roofs, seeding, etc. (Note: Summer help assisting with general electrical and HVAC will "not" handle any electrical energy sources).
    3. Performs general inventory/warehouse tasks including but not limited to: assisting in installation, repair or removal of school and office equipment and furniture (e.g. desks, tables, chairs, etc.).  Loading and unloading equipment and supplies, stocking shelves, sweeping floors, etc...
    4. Performs such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required)
     
    1. High school or College enrollment required.  Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
    2. Must have access to dependable transportation to and from the assigned work site in a timely manner.
    3. Must be able to work a full 10 hour day.  (Workday – Monday - Thursday 7:00 am – 5:30 pm)
    4. Work attire consist of long pants (jeans or cargo style – no holes), tee shirt (provided by HCS), safety toe shoes (employees responsibility).  No open toe shoes unless working in office environment and authorized by supervisor.
    5. Attends mandatory meetings and safety training as necessary.
    6. Demonstrates ability to follow instructions, both oral and written, for prescribed job responsibilities.
    7. Knowledge of how to properly perform manual tasks.
    8. Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the tasks performed.
    9. Ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
    10. Ability to use computers for data entry.
    11. Ability to communicate with supervisor and employees.
    12. Skills in basic arithmetic; ability to calculate volume and measure materials precisely.
    13. Knowledge of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required to perform tasks.
    Physical Requirements
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms; walk; sit; stoop or kneel; crouch or crawl.  
    Additional physical requirements include the following:
     
    • physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 100 pounds;
    • specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus;
    • ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
    • manual dexterity for the purpose of using a telephone, data entry, using hand tools;
    • read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
    • eye-hand coordination to avoid injury;
    • physical endurance to lift tools, equipment, and supplies while standing, climbing, bending, or kneeling for long periods;
    • hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; and
    • speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone.
    • Physically wear PPE (eye protection, hearing protection, hand protection, safety shoes, protective clothing, respirator, etc.).
