What better way to give back to your community than by investing in the future! If you have a few hours to spare, the Hempfield School District is looking for volunteers. Volunteering can be a fun and fulfilling way to help your local school district. For further clarification about the role of volunteers in the district, please refer to Board Policy 916.
All extracurricular volunteers are required to submit the following documents to the Human Resources Office prior to volunteering:
Current clearances are ones that you obtained within the last 5 years of the date you will be volunteering. Once your clearances expire, you must obtain new clearances if you want to resume a role as an extracurricular volunteer.
When applying for your clearances, we recommend that you start the process well in advance of when you may need them to start an assignment. As a reminder, it is the responsibility of the volunteer to complete the forms and pay the required fees. As soon as you receive all of your clearances back from the state, please take the forms to the Human Resources Department, 200 Church St., Landisville, PA 17538 at which time we will make copies of the clearances for our records. When applying for your FBI check, we will need the confirmation number (starts with "UEID") issued at the time of registration on the Identogo website.
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: If a volunteer is scheduled to assist the coach during athletic practices, does he/she need clearances?
Answer: The volunteer needs to provide clearances because he/she is performing the same duty on a regularly scheduled basis with kids.
Question: If an employee of the district is interested in volunteering, will he/she require new clearances?
Answer: If an employee (extracurricular, substitute, part-time, or full-time) is actively working and all clearances are up-to-date, he/she will not need to submit new clearances.
Please note - active duty police officers do not need to obtain/submit clearances to volunteer.
Question: Why must I complete the PDE-6004 form if I am only seeking to volunteer in the district?
Answer: This document represents one more way that the district can demonstrate that it is doing everything it can to ensure the safety of our children. Completion of this self-disclosure document coupled with the clearances that we require provides the district with important information about the adults who may have contact with students in our schools. This form should take less than two minutes to read and complete in most cases.
Please note - active duty police officers do not need to obtain/submit clearances to volunteer.
