Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 5 years verifiable gas/diesel experience with references. Cummins, Caterpillar experience preferred. Blue Bird School Bus experience preferred.
Certificates and Licensure Requirements Appropriate Certifications (ASE Certified Bus Mechanic)
Commercial Driver’s license (Class B) with P and S endorsements
IVP fingerprint clearance card through AZ Department of Public Safety
Summary Assist in keeping district vehicles, buses and maintenance equipment in a state of operating excellence. Buses will meet DPS requirements at all times. Perform all activities related to the Transportation Division.

- Working knowledge of trade related hazards and safety precautions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

Responsibilities and Requirements - Inspections, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing mechanical defects on LHUSD#1 vehicles, buses and equipment
- Identifies the need for appropriate parts
- Assists in preventive maintenance and willing to work after hours on bus breakdowns
- Maintains proper records of time, materials, parts used for each repair, and invoices
- Maintains an up to date inventory of parts and supplies
- Proper use and maintenance of all tools and testing equipment.
- Shop area kept clean and neat.
- Performs all duties as required
- Comply with federal, state and district policies and procedures
- Responsible for working in cooperation with other school district personnel
- Practice safety and use safety equipment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment - Physical dexterity and strength necessary to properly use all hand tools, air tools, floor dolly, and jacks.
- Climbs, bends, kneel, stand, and walk to perform assigned duties.
- Repetitive motion and eye strain through extensive utilization of computer hardware and software.
- May require lifting materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Operates large and small power driven machinery or equipment
- Climbs to various heights and work in confined places
Other Information: - Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance and background check
